Default Q about durability

Hey all,

I am new to corvettes and have been browsing around the forum learning some stuff about the C5z.

I recently sold my 08 mustang GT and will be in the market soon for a new car. I initially was planning on buying a 03-04 Cobra but after looking around, discovered that I could get a 02-05 C5 Z06 as well.

My questions is I know that the Cobras are very durable both mechanical and electrical but wanted to know if the same goes for the C5 Z06. When I do purchase a car, I am will be looking for one under 40-50k miles but want to make sure that I wont be getting limited use out of it. How has everyones Z06 been treating them and is there any common problems that I should be looking out for when I go out and look at one?

Good thing is that it will be a secondary and weekend vehicle and have done some research on both cars, so I know some pros and cons of each and look forward to learning more about the Vette.

Also, if anyone would like to share why they chose the C5 Z06 over any other car they were looking at, I would appreciate it as well. My next car will be mainly for fun and to drive around town on the weekends. I am not looking to race or take it to the track but have fun with it.

Thanks.

I owned an 03 Mustang Cobra and now own an 02 C5 ZO6. The ZO6 is a very reliable car. I loved the Mustang but the difference between the cars is tremendous. The Vette, IMO, is much better performing car from a power and handling stand point. Not to mention a lot lighter. You will not be disappointed. Oh yeah, I beat on my car every chance I get because that is why I bought it. I will track the car once I have enjoyed it on the street for a while. It is just too pretty to take all the rock and rubber debris from track use at the moment.

The 03-04 Cobras are indeed very tough cars and can make some amazing power, but they aren't a true sports car. Figure out what you want first and what your uses will be and go from there. My C5Z has been extremely relaible/durable...even modded.
