Default Ignition won't shut off car

So I'm burping the excess air out of my cooling system. I go to open the drivers door and get an alarm. I shut it off via remote and all is well. I go to shut the ignition off and the car continues to run. I have the key in my hand! I have to stall it to turn it off. Next I discover that my trunk/hatch release button no longer works, and I no longer get the "pull key and wait 10 secs" message. Before, when I would put the key into the ignition, the "pull key and wait 10 sec" warning would appear. I would then pull the key, and you'd hear a solenoid activating or deactivating, but not now. What is going on? Oh, and my security light is on all the time. I can't disarm it via remote. And my remote no longer beeps when I attempt to arm and disarm the system. Help!!!! There has got to be a logical answer. I'm just not seeing it.

After pulling out all of my hair, the gray ones included, it turns out it was the low speed relay for the cooling fans. It appears to be shorted, thus causing all kinds of erratic indications. Replaced it with a know good one, and all is well. And it was draining my battery, as the ignition was never really off! Thanks for all of the input. On the bright side, I did save myself about $300 - $400 dollars tackling it myself.

Congrats on figuring it out for yourself. Odd electrical issues like this one are difficult enough to figure out in person, and damn near impossible to diagnose online without gaining access to the vehicle.
