Ok. I need some help from you guys. I'm out on the hot rod power tour this week and this morning my car wouldn't start. I turned the key and all I get is the click from the relays in the passenger side fuse panel. No click from the starter. The battery is fully charged. Its a six speed so we decided to try to push start it and it fired right up. When we got to the next stop I parked on a hill in case I had to push start it again. But when I turned the key, it started right up. I drove it around two more times and it started just fine. But now I'm at a hotel and its doing the same thing again. I tapped on the starter with a crescent wrench with no luck. Anyone know what the problem may be?
I have the same problem. I have a new battery and drove my car 700+ miles then the car wouldn't start. I tried tapping the starter as well with no luck. I kept trying to start it and finally it fired. It's happened to me 3-4 times now and each time if I just keep trying to start it it'll eventually start. So a dirty or bad ignition tumbler could be my problem. Is there any way to clean it?
I had a similar issue recently at the gym. It turned out to be a loose battery connection (positive), so I recommend that you check the battery cables at both ends - including the starter.
