Went through this with my '99 FRC. Turns out there is an "early" cap and a "late" cap. The early (changeover in '99 or '00 as I recall) cap is slightly larger and snaps in place. The late cap is smaller and twists and locks in place. The early cap is NLA from GM, and GM's solution is to replace both headlight surrounds with "late" so you can use the "late" cap--which is B.S.. Eckler has reproduction early caps which solve the problem. FWIW.
They sent me a SAMPLE for nothing
Think it was a 2 1/4 inch. Use RTV and dont lose it again
take off the 3 screws if ur messing with the headlight
I had this issue with my '99.
The best and easy fix is: Cut a circle out of the Black top of a spray can and supper glue it in. If you ever want to adjust your headlamps just
remove the screws fron the side of the suround. its that easy.
I did mine 6 years ago and no problems.
