Default Brake job

The brakes are very noisy (squeal) on the '01 I just bought.
I can get all GM AC Delco rotors and pads all the way around for $332.00.
Are any vendors offering a better option for about the same money?

The $332 was all inclusive, Gene's price was $318 but didn't include shipping. The $332 came from a chevy parts manager that is in my local car club

Depends on what your going to do with the car. If it a basic driver stock brakes are fine. If your intent is to auto cross or race the car you may want to upgrade your brakes at this time. If your intending adding a boat load of hp then you definitely want to upgrade the brakes. Your wheel size will also affect what you can do with aftermarket brakes or C6 upgraded brakes.

Consider Hawk HPS pads for improved braking. Gene at gmpartshouse has good pricing on these. Personally I would also get better rotors.

I ran Hawk HPS pads on my '00 and they had low dusting and no squeal. I also ran Baer Eradispeed rotors on the car.

Just prior to selling my 00 vert I put Hawk HPS pads on my car and love them. Excellent stoping power, no noise and very little dust.

WOW Rex Ruby posting in the C5 Section, I think this is a first and I honored to be apart of it!

Rex is a long time C4 guy.

Stock brakes will be fine for what you are doing with the car, but if you want a mild upgrade the Hawk HPS pads are nice and slotted rotor will offer some bling behind the wheels.

Default PowerSlots!

I advise against getting OEM rotors, especially with the excellent OEM pads. I combined PowerSlot rotors and OEM - an excellent combination that will never produce the dreaded "pulsating brake pedal" syndrome. Blank rotors can build up uneven pad deposits, which cause the pulsations. Slotted rotors prevent this from happening and PowerSlot makes some very high-quality rotors that are coated in non-contact areas to prevent rusting.

Mike's a good guy to get prices on brakes from. I got my braided lines and calipers from him and I couldn't have been more satisfied with the transaction and the (more than) reasonable price. I know he's got great deals on rotors and pads as well.

I STRONGLY recommend HAWK HPS pads, I am running them now. They dust less than standard pads and stop better than ZO6 pads. Stay away from GM's Ceramic Pads, they stop lousy and warped my stock rotors.

I just put on Hawk HPS pads with PowerSlot rotors. So far, so good - I go fast, they slow me down before I hit something.
