Nothing pisses me off more than everyone thinking they know how to be a LEO more so than the LEO's themselves. Everyone likes to sit behind their computer screen or read their books and think they know how to be a cop. You have no idea how many times the offenders tell the officers that they are going to have their badge and they have a lawsuit coming, all because they think they know the law better than the officer. If these people were really upstanding citizens who were that educated and knew the law better than the officer, they wouldn't be in the back of the patrol car to begin with.
Until your beliefs are based on experience, it's lacking credibility. Anyone can quote case law but you thinking you know how to do an experienced veterans job better than him is just plain ignorance.
of course, only people with money to spend on Legal Representation actually have rights
Ain't that the damn truth. I had an officer issue me a speeding ticket years ago and he mis-wrote the road I was on. I was in fact not on the road he wrote on the ticket. I went to court after having spoken to some officer friends of mine who said I would get off because the ticket was not valid.
So I went to court, pled not guilty, said I was never on that road and the judge asked the officer if that was true. He looked at the ticket and said, yes I made a mistake. Judge said "OK, so what, you were speeding anyway and got caught". He socked me with the fine and PBJ which basically meant no points. The judge did not uphold the law in my opinion and if I had been able to afford a lawyer I would not have paid any fine. HOWEVER, the flip side of that story is I would have spent more on the lawyer than the $130 fine and since I did not get any points I came out ahead. Doesnt' change the fact that I think the judge was wrong in what he did.

I do not see where I postulated I know how to do a LEO's Job ..
