I was stopped and given a warning for an illegal U-turn by a city cop. Didn't pay any attention to the front plate, just told me to watch out for traffic signs. A clean red corvette top down and he was immediately at ease. I didn't even do it on purpose, just didn't register the small print on the sign.
i got 7 fix it tickets from a state trooper. brought it to my town and had a local cop sign it all off. He said that the state trooper was probably pissed he didnt have an awesome car like mine. lol
I was getting gas last week, and was inside at the cash register when I noticed a squad car slowly circling my Z06 and then stopping behind it. I thought for sure he was going to cite me for too-dark windows, no front plate, not high enough stance, etc. Instead, as I nervously walked out to the car, I was greeted with this:
"Hey, man. Your car is f%&#ing hot! Did you lower it? What exhaust is that? I was looking at C6Zs, but I love the shape of the older Z06. What did you pay for that?"

It's a California thing... Cops aren't like that in most other states. California cops like Corvettes since MANY of them have Corvettes.
i honestly dont know why but when i had my 03 cobra i got a ton of tickets and knock on wood not 1 with my z06. And my z has limo tints, black lights, no front plate, tinted plate cover, and is crazy loud (headers,no cats, b&b bullets)... Even thou im a 23 yr old kid covered in tats i think cops jus kinda think vette owners are more mature/respectable..... works for me lol
Also a cop here, and what car you drive has no basis on my decesion when I deal with you. I have written vettes tickets, and I have let others go. Depends on the situation that I am dealing with. but in all honesty, I don't pull many over. Most people in them drive responsibly.
It is one of my pet peeves on here when people get upset that they got a ticket for window tint, or a front license plate. If you know it is not legal, and you choose to do it, then don't be upset when you are held accountable. If you get a warning, just be happy and keep on trucking.
If you feel the ticket should not have been issued, then go to court. That is what it is there for.
From: ALL governments are legalized mobsters, so doesn't matter where I live :(
My neighbor across from me is a cop, and at first we didn't really talk all that much until I put on a new exhaust, then he comes over one day and says...
"You know...your car sounds really good because I use to think it sounded like $hit!!!"
Since then we've become friends. I even had to teach him the finer points of using a microfiber towel to dry and introduced him to McGuire's products for waxing on his X3 Beammer SUV

While this is 100% accurate, your statement falls apart when cops selectively choose when to enforce the law, and when not to. When I was pulled over for tint and no front plate, it was by a state trooper near my hometown, which is about 100 miles away from my current home. Previously to being pulled over by him, I had driven by state troopers 100s of times in my current city, because there is massive road construction going on right now and they are patrolling constantly. Never once did they give me a second look. However, when I commented (nicely, by the way) to the trooper that did ticket me that the troopers in my home town have never pulled me over, he simply said in a condescending tone: "it's not my fault they're not doing their damn jobs."
So, I ask...who's right here? Should all cops/troopers pull every single car over that appears to have dark tint and no front plate? There are 1000s of soccer mom SUVs that meet that criteria where I live. Or are the troopers in my town right, since it's a very minor infraction and I'm always driving responsibly and they let it go? It shouldn't go both ways. THAT is what pisses me off. Needless to say, I had to pay to get my tint removed (it came on the car when I bought it...I didn't "choose" to break the law by putting it on) and get it signed off by a local cop. My opinion...do what you say and say what you do. Always.

Ive had Corvettes all my life and never got a ticket.. Ive been stopped a dozen times over 50 years of driving but, always just a traffic check.. ID and registration. I have two close friends that are both NJ State highway Patrol troopers...both have Corvettes,, they tell me that sometimes they will stop a very nice looking Corvette, just to make sure they guy driving it is the owner or has authorization to drive it but mainly because they want to check out the good looking car. I had one cop who stopped me tell me the exact same thing. I have No problem with any cop making sure that my car is in my hands and not someone who doesn't own it. aka stolen.

You are not driving responsibly if you are breaking the laws in your state...the fact that you get away with it more often close to home has no bearing on the fact that you know the law and choose to break it...consider the times you are not ticketed as being lucky. Its not the troopers fault that you chose drive a car with illegal tint on your windows beyond the acceptable safety tint or not using a front plate in a state where you know it is the law. Write your state representative and tell him to change the laws on tinting and front plates. How many times have you broken the speed laws and made moving violations consciously when there was no cop around and got away with it. It was your decision to remove the plate and buy a car with excessive tint on the windows, not the cop. So don't blame him for your choices. I am sorry you got the ticket, but you broke the law.

I've been known to drive my car, shall we say, exuberantly. I certainly don't begrudge a LEO for pulling me when I deserve it.
The only time I've been wrongfully pulled over (and wrongfully is a little strong of a term for this instance) was when I first bought the car. I bought it in Kansas (single temp tag) and drove back to Missouri (2 plate state). A local LEO pulled me over because I was only exhibiting one temp tag. Once she was close enough to see the issuing state, she killed the lights, walked up and explained why she pulled me over. Then apologized because she didn't catch the issue state before lighting the cherries. She was very professional (cute to boot), and didn't try and bluff another excuse for pulling me. It's an easily understood mistake, and I'd not going to bitch about the 2 minutes that the exchange took.

Agree 100%. Add in the moronic practice of blacking out your lights and you have my two biggest pet peeves with my Vette brethren.
