Cops still like Corvettes

If you consciously break the law about front plates, window tint, blacked out lights, whatever....then be an adult and accept responsibility for your actions.
I am not a LEO - but I have a lot of LEO friends, they are not all seeing and knowing....they are just men and women trying to do a thankless miserable job, in all kinds of weather conditions, risking their lives every time they step out of their house to go to work. Because they are human - they make mistakes, have opinions, some do their jobs better than others, and most importantly can have a "bad day" once in a while. That trooper that just pulled you over might have just left the scene of a fatal accident.....I know they are trained to handle difficult situations, but they are still human.
Also as humans - if you come off as an asshat, you can expect them to react accordingly. If you give respect, likely (but no guarantee)you will get treated with respect in return. Yeah, cops like Vettes, but not all of them do.
Bottom line is be an adult - take responsibility for your actions, and treat people with respect and once in a while just try to put yourself in the other man's shoes and think about how you'd react in the same situation. [/philosophy discussion]
So, I ask...who's right here? Should all cops/troopers pull every single car over that appears to have dark tint and no front plate? There are 1000s of soccer mom SUVs that meet that criteria where I live. Or are the troopers in my town right, since it's a very minor infraction and I'm always driving responsibly and they let it go? It shouldn't go both ways. THAT is what pisses me off. Needless to say, I had to pay to get my tint removed (it came on the car when I bought it...I didn't "choose" to break the law by putting it on) and get it signed off by a local cop. My opinion...do what you say and say what you do. Always.
I took his advice and haven't been stopped since.

"You know...your car sounds really good because I use to think it sounded like $hit!!!"
Since then we've become friends. I even had to teach him the finer points of using a microfiber towel to dry and introduced him to McGuire's products for waxing on his X3 Beammer SUV
Years ago I got stopped by the ISP for speeding on the tollway. I had my son with me and we were talking, and I obviously wasn't paying attention. The trooper told me why he had stopped me, thanked me for my service, told me to slow down and sent me on my way. Semper Fi
"Hey, man. Your car is f%&#ing hot! Did you lower it? What exhaust is that? I was looking at C6Zs, but I love the shape of the older Z06. What did you pay for that?"

I had a cop get me because of my exhaust and hearing me get on it a little bit, then proceeded to ask if it was my car or my dads...and I said I don't think my dad would have a sound system like this one and he looked back and said ''holy **** that is a system! looks awesome!''
Back to my point...there are TONS of people who don't run a plate and have very dark tint in my hometown and throughout Wisconsin. This is no different than any other state. My point is that for some reason, this trooper decided to track me down (I was heading in the opposite direction as him on a divided 4-lane highway so he had to speed up, put other drivers' lives in danger, pull a U-turn and chase me down). He had a bad attitude as soon as he walked up to my car, but I was extremely polite. It's my nature. He immediately walked to the front of the car, looked at the bumper, and then got his light meter out and stuck it to my window. THEN he asked me "do you know why I pulled you over?" It was quite obvious at that point (I wasn't speeding). I said with completely honesty that I didn't have a front plate on the car at the time and that I bought the car with it already tinted and I wasn't sure how dark it was. At that point, he went back to his car and returned with the fix-it ticket. Only THEN did I try to have a polite conversation about why he felt the need to pull me over when troopers in my home town never have before. The ticket was written. I just wanted some insight so I would know what to expect next time. That's when he made the smart-*** comment and said have a nice day.
So am I still an irresponsible *****? I understand cops have bad days, but this "discretion" argument doesn't hold water in my opinion. Either enforce the law on ALL cars and ALL citizens, or don't. Don't **** us off by being selective when I wasn't doing anything outrageous. I was simply driving home to see my family and the whole ordeal ruined the trip and just upset me, as it would anyone else. I had the tint removed and I always run my plate now. I just wish officers would enforce the law a little more equally. Is that too much to ask?

I will pay the fines and deal with it. The only thing that blows my mind is that two years ago Illinois raised the tint law from 25 dollars to 250 dollars.....of course not for revenue.......Righttttt
I respect you as an experienced member of this forum and I respect all police officers and public servants in general.
I think questioning my manhood (and calling me a "wuzzz", whatever that is) is quite uncalled for, however. I'll say this plainly... I *know* I broke the law. I clearly stated that to the officer at the time, and to everyone on this forum in my post. I removed the tint because the officer wrote me a fix-it ticket to do so. I did not remove it prior to that, because as I said, the car came like that and I chose not to spend the money to remove it because I honestly wasn't sure how dark it was. I made no excuses. Read my posts again if you must. My point was, and continues to be, that I find it to be unfair that officers use this so-called "discretion" to enforce the law for some motorists, and not others. Read the posts in this thread...others have had cops pull right up to them at a gas station with blacked out lights, loud exhausts and limo tint. Why didn't they immediately ticket them like the officer did to me? THAT is my point. "End of story." I do not make excuses... I'm simply stating my opinion that officers should enforce the law equally. Why do you have such a problem with that opinion? I'm done replying to these posts now...I feel I've made my point. But if not, so be it. I respect your opinion and all I'm asking for is the same.
