Reaching out to C5 owners that reside in the Outer Banks, NC for some references. If all goes as planned we should be moving to OBX this summer and I am hoping that there is a reputable body and mechanic shop somewhere local to the island. It is hard to find a place that will treat your car with respect and do good work.
Andys auto repair just north of the Gravedigger shop on 168!
He's a Corvette mechanic and also has a good body shop. I'm in Grandy about six miles south from Andys place.
P.S. Your gonna love living down here on the outer banks.
Dave
Your going to have to lose the straight talk and start talking like us.
Body shop, Performance Chevy in Elizabeth City Remember anything on the island will cost more. A lot more.
The gentleman in Vanceboro is William Wiggins. Once you get down here if you want to visit him look us up. Always looking for a good excuse to ride.
Almost moved there but they didn't like my 75 foot toys and no where to park. Lots of restrictions and codes on the island. Trailer the boat over there all the time to OI and Hatteras so might be able to point you in the right direction on a lot of things. If you looking for waterfront look outside the island. Life is really really cheap once you cross the bridge.....Beautiful place. They roll the streets up at 9 pm and after the summer rush life settles down to a crawl. If laid back, easy going is what your looking for, you've found it..

Thanks everone for the nice responses. We are looking around Kill Devil Hills or Colington, and within the First Flight HS district. Hoping for a neighboorhood with a pool and a house within walking distance to the dounds (or channels) along with good storage space
We are finding that there is a chance that we might not find a house on the island with a garage at this point. If that ends up being the case, and if we end up with a carport, I will convert that into a makeshift garage. Otherwise I might have to go down the outoor car cover route util we move inland later on...
Have 5 of them....two on the other side of the shop to the left.
Living in a flood zone has its own style of living. Unless you get high ground which is hard to find if you want waterfront you can't have anything at ground zero. Water can get 5 to 8 inches in the yard on a good NE wind and i've had water 43 inchs during a hurricane and buddy, i'm 36 miles inland across the sound from you...
In the photo we were sitting on the front porch during the hurricane and yes the tree broke.. No more trees near the house now. Thats white caps in the front yard. Welcome to coastal living.
Vette is kept in the 30 foot race trailer out of the weather and off the ground to the left of the photo...
Last photo is just a good NE wind... Was the GF's first so we number them around here...
Better go with plan B.... LOL
