I got a virtually new car for $34k, if there had been one with that or less mileage for $24k, believe me, I would have seen it and gotten it. Several others with the same or slightly more miles were $39k+ with the same options. I spent over 3 months looking for this exact car model with exactly these options, so I know full well what's out there.

Best regards,

Nice looking ride. Might want to start shopping for new tires as well if they are OEM.
NO, a new C6 Grand Sport ragtop is what I had been looking at, had one all picked out, but I wanted F55, and it didn't have it. I learned it could be installed by the dealer for another $5k, that would have put the sticker at $79k, so even without the F55, the sticker was/is $74k, and the dealer was "discounting" it for $62k. So, somewhere in there, I saved a sh*load of money, and the guy I bought this car from PAID a little over $51k, so the sticker was probably around $60k. I think I got the best deal possible. Now, all I have to do is get the car HERE. Damned trucking company still hasn't found a driver to go between MN & CO. Maybe after the holiday...

Best regards,
...z PS: Yeah, the tires probably have some dry rot, I'll be looking for the best deal on Michelin PS 2s or something similar...

I looked at new also - just couldn't afford it - couple of months ago I found a mint 01 Vert with 7,200 miles for 20K$ -

The tire ****’s here might tell you your tires are dangerous – I haven’t listen to them – My tires are 10 years old with 8,000 miles on them – I’m still running them – Enjoy the car – tom

Great color combo! Looks like you got a good one there. Check and make sure the "shock stuffers" have been removed (they were required when shipping a 2003 or 2004 and some dealers didn't know to remove them as part of the dealer prep). A friend of mine bought a low mileage 2003 a couple years ago and found that they had never been removed. The original owner must have thought that all corvettes are supposed to ride rough...

Hope the shipping gets worked out soon and you can start enjoying your vette!

Yeah, I'm happy! It's a 2004 LeMans Commemorative Edition Convertible with only 1,316 miles! Family says it still smells like a new car. Well, it basically IS still a new car... Here's a few pix:

YEAH, it has the F55 option!!!

The top works...

I love it, can't wait, I've wanted a Corvette for over 50 years! Thanks to many people on this forum, I was able to wring out my thoughts, make good decisions on what to buy, and stuck to my final decision. I especially like that CO's front plate has a perfect spot, unlike the C6es. Even my wife approves, especially since I'm not wasting money on the instant depreciation an actual "new" car would have the moment we drove it off the lot. And, I saved about 35 grand! Insurance is under $500/year & state plates under $100/yr instead of about $600/yr for the first 5+...

Thanks again folks, I'm sure I'll have many more questions as time goes by, the car will be here hopefully by the end of next week, or the beginning of the following week...

Best regards,
LG "Zeek" Duff
Longmont, CO

Hey Zeek, cheer up. You sound a little down.

Congrats on your new ride. It's official. You are now a Baller.

You worked too hard all your life to be ballin on a budget.

I'll drive it home for you. No charge. I don't have a bad back. The pleasure will be all mine.

Default Thanks!!!

Thanks, everybody!!! Yeah, I guess I am a little down, I was hoping the car would be here before this weekend, but I've waited this long, I can wait a little longer to be sure it's well taken care of in an enclosed trailer, and won't have the mileage doubled the first couple of days I drive it (sorry, volunteers). Hahaha... It's weird, all the excitement in getting the buy finally done, I spent at least a few hours every day looking online for over 3 months, after I decided on exactly what car to look for, and I'd already spent a couple of months looking at new '11 GSes.

I finally just decided I liked the C5 better, and I like LeMans Blue better, I like having a built-in place for the front plate, and I like having an interior which no (major) part of is black. And, I'll have NO problem getting the engine to where I'll simply run away from the average C6. I just needed to find one with so few miles, it still smells new. Well, the guy I bought this one from assured me it DOES still smell new, so after the thrill of the hunt is over, the agony of waiting for the delivery has set in.

I handled the first 10 days just fine, then I started hurting, worrying someone was gonna screw it up, somehow. A couple of nights ago, I couldn't get to sleep, then finally got only about 4 hrs. I think I'm over THAT nonsense, and now I'm just resigned to waiting for news until next Tuesday or Wednesday, and hoping someone will at least pick it up before the end of next week. I guess ordering a new one would be just as bad, but there at least you know you're just waiting on the car to be made, not simply hauled from point A to point B.

Also, someone warned me about the "Mods Bug," and yep, I've already spent a couple $k on "stuff" to make the ride MINE. SLP exhaust, VaraRam intake system, some leather bits, some chrome bits, dual cup holder, etc. And yes, someone else even sent me a picture of those white nylon shock blocks that a dealer left in his, that were still there after 20k miles. I bet the original owner was surprised if the new owner told him about those puppies...

Anyway guys, thanks to all of you for the good wishes, good advice, and everything I've seen on the forum since I joined 6 months ago. I definitely have a better car coming than I would have without all the people on this forum, absolutely NO doubt about it!

It will get here, I have faith, 'cause I found the dang thing, after all...

Best regards,
...z

Be very careful about wiring money to the "owner". That is not normal Ebay prodocal. Be safe and setup escrow account. Protects both buyer and seller.

Yeah, that term is a little deceiving, it was a "Bank To Bank Wire Transfer," so I have all the person's personal and bank information, and the eBay protections still apply. But, you're right, no way should anyone wire money via Western Union, that just puts the $$ out into the ozone.

Still looking for an enclosed car hauler..

I think he might of meant buying a 2011 C6, he saved 35k by buying a "brand new" 2004 C5. Just a guess though.

I have shipped a lot of motorcycles that I have restored & sold - shipped 3 cars - I know what your fighting with a hauler - it's even harder now with the price of fuel - the hauler guys want to make sure they get a full load & also try to get a load returning home - tom

I love the color! The interior color is nice too. I wish mine had that interior color instead of the Fugly camel leather.
Have fun with it and despite what some people say autos can be pretty fun too

That's exactly right; I just looked, the GS I'd been tinkering with the dealer about is still for sale, $76k sticker, now the sale price is up $1k from a few months ago to $63k, without F55, so add $5k to the $63k for the dealer to install F55, and you get that I saved exactly $35k.

http://www.cabledahmer.com/new/Chevr...36a3d44547.htm

Amazin', ain't it?

I just paid the governor $2,731 sales tax yesterday, figure that would be more than double on the '11, too...
