i mounted mine in the passenger kick panel area. if you remove the trim shields under the glove box you will find loads of room and it is a really easy means of wire access across under the glove box and into the radio mounting area.
Easy to get a vent holder and mount it in the AC/heat vent. Stereo shop that works on ours wired the two leads in and we can just stick them back in the glove box if we don't want to use the XM. Have nav on the pop up stereo so could not put it over top the unit and the xm transducer receiver is in the middle of the dash by the windshield beside the nav transducer. Use the same xm unit in the big truck, our 3500, car and the boat. Just fixed everything up where I could switch it from all locations.

after trying various places based on recommendations on the forum, i chose to mount mine on top of the fuse box cover under the hood.
i got an adhesive backed metal plate from a local stereo shop that they use for odd installations where there is a lack of metal (i.e., fiberglass/plastic car panels) since they recommend the antenna be mounted to a decent sized, horizontal metal surface. it also has a black coating on it to make it "disappear" under the hood. and since the hood is fiberglass, it won't interfere with the signal.
routed the antenna from inside the cockpit to the battery compartment area and it magnetically sticks to the metal plate adhered to the top of the fuse cover.
i can try to find one of my posts that had a pic of it if you need it.
good luck with the install. post pics when done as well.
i got the impression the OP was looking for a place to mount his sirius module for a new radio head (sirius ready type). of course i could have been totally off base. if that is the case and you are asking where to mount the antenna, i mounted mine in the area behind the A pillar trim. once it is removed, there is a lot of area up front (closest to the window) where it will sit horizontal and the reception is excellent. i have the NAV antenna mounted in a similar position behind the driver's side A pillar and also receive excellent reception from it there.
The antenna can be hidden - it can see through fiberglass or ABS plastic without too much trouble. I've seen a number of installs done where the antenna is in the rear of the car mounted to the underside of the trunk panel (accessible by removing the rear lights) or under the hood. Wherever you decide to put it, I strongly suggest testing it in the driveway before you affix it permanently.

you may be right, srs244. i think i went down the wrong path.
if the OP wanted to know where to put the radio unit itself, i went with the alpine in-dash dvd/monitor with the alpine-to-sirius module so i can get all station/artist info on the screen.
