Default headlight problem

All of a sudden my headlight doors are popping open when I start my
2000 conv and and won't close until I shut the car off, has anyone else experienced this problem.

If you have the twilight system on your car, you might want to check that.

2 other common issues:

1) multifunction switch: (location: stalk on left side of steering wheel) there are a LOT of circuits and contacts inside that little stalk. over time these contacts wear down and start shorting causing all sorts of weird problems.

2) Headlight control module (location: black 4"x4" box under the passenger side headlight) The weather seal on this box is of questionable quality. If it fails, the internal electronics will be damaged.

Unfortunately, I"m not aware of any troubleshooting procedure to check either of these potential problems.

Are the headlamps actually on when they come up? Are you in a garage at the time?

Go into the programming in the DIC and turn off the twilight sentinel option. Check your owner's manual for explanation and instructions.

Your twilight may be on and you may have something blocking the light from the sensor on top of the dash. Or you may have a bad light sensor.
The light sensor would be inside the top of the dash grill , on the driver's side.

I have this problem but the twilight mode won't turn off, I push the reset button but it does nothing. The rest button work to change every other option except the twilight option.

Anything I can do without going to a dealer?

I'm wondering if you have a Canadian car? If I understand correctly, on those you cannot turn it off.

I live in Missouri and the PO bought in here in Missouri new in '04 so it should not be a Canadian car.
