C5 oil drain plug ?

Have any of you swapped out the stock oil pan drain plug with a newer magnetic one? Was putting in the magnetic one worth the price and effort? Thinking of installing one with the up coming oil & filter change ?

Absolutely spend the $5 and get the GM magnetic plug from the stealership. I switched at my first oil change. Every time I take it out there is a fine coating of iron particles adhered to the magnet that the filter did not catch. It will keep that junk fron circulating and remove it from the engine !!!

i don't use a magnetic plug, but i do have a heavy duty magnet afixed to the bottom of the oil filter and i re-install it each time i change the filter and the oil. you'd be surprised at what the bottom of the filter looks like when you cut it open to see if it does anything. believe me it works.
