What is the simplest way to increase the stereo in my 2003 coupe without doing too much. I worry about rattling doors and parts. Can I just replace the rears and fronts or do I need amplifiers?

your fronts are self amplified
you can replace the twiddlers only if you like or replace rears without needing an amp(coupe is a 6.5 inch vert and Z06 are 5.25 inch)
if replacing the entire speakers you will need an amp to power it
i have all kinds of options for you depending on how much you want to spend
i have an amp speaker package for 200.00 which will replace all 4 speakers and include a 4 channel amp with amp kit
if keeping stock radio you would need a aoem-gm24 harness (45.00)
we can change radio out as well from around 100.00 and up with dash kit harness and antenna adapter
call me if you want to dicuss the many options available to you
I spoke to dennis and he very helpful.. Anybody by the Iowa area should use this guy. He knows his corvettes. He was recogmending an Arc mini amp. VIBE component fronts and 6.5 backs and a Kicker sub. Im keeping the head unit. Have any of you used this set up before. Looks like around 800 not installed. the amp is 4 x 80 and 240 for the sub, 5 channel amp. I just want to be happy with the sound and not want to upgrade again but I dont want to spend a fortune. BUt if it makes that much of a difference then we will see.

Its always great talking to everyone when they call
Here is my Vibe setup. I wouldnt recomment the Vibe if it wasnt good enough for my own car.

That sounds like a good setup for a killer price
Does that include all the adapters, amp wiring kit, etc.?
Given your stated objectives, I think you'll be happy with this setup.
Very nice! I wouldn't mind doing something like that in my car
What brand can you compare the Vibe to as far as sound quality? (if any)
Thanks!
like all companies
there are many versions of the quality.
Vibe has 5 levels
all the stuff you see in my car is level 4 and 5
the Vibe I recommended to the OP was level 2 in the Black Air components
comparing
Vibe is Vibe
They are the JL Audio of the UK is how it was presented to me. I would personally say the Vibe Space 12 sub I have in the picture is better than anything JL I ever had in the car
I have alot of happy cust0mers with the products at some very nice pricing.
Of course if you want Focal for speakers we can do that as well
Vibe mini amps are on the way
Arc mini amps are very nice. The new xdi805 5 channel is a nice addition. They even have a 3 channel mini amp now
This looks like a great set-up and I'm sure it sounds as good as it looks!
However, is the cargo area still functional? I'm planning a new trunk mounted subwoofer for my convertible and was curious if I will have any issues placing my Lloyds carpeted trunk/cargo mat over the sub.
I want good sound, however I still have the need to carry around my bag of golf clubs!

The sub is awesome. Its fun to turn it up and watch the 3/4 inch mdf flex its not your rattle trap sounding bass either. sounds just as good ont he outside of the car as it does the inside
i can easily put stuff back there if i want and store top
middle section between amps and sub comes off for storage of cleaning products as well
then again i pretty much only drive the vette to and from car shows any more
Thanks

...you can carry around your foursome, 4 cart bags/clubs and a cooler full of beer for the cart in that!

So Dennis. Can you put 6.5" in the back of a Z06 with no issues? I was looking at some Focal 165s but I thought they wouldn't fit and I'd have to go with the 130s as they are 5.25".

I have done stereos for over 20+ C5s from mild to wild. I work with dennis at dbldmods alot. What is your budget at the end of the day. You can replace just the twiddlers and rears if you want. Personally I would do components in the front and an aftermarket amp and some coaxials in the back. Will be a whole new system.
PM me if you want or search for threads started by me for some different installs. Like I said you can go very mild for a resonable budget and get great results
