Every other car with a computer I own has "knock sensors" which will retard the timing if you use sub-grade gas. Performance is definately degraded, but at least it wont grenade your motor.
I find it hard to believe the Corvette computer doesn't have the technology of my '97 Acura?

Going to check the plugs tomorrow to see if they are gapped correctly. Thats a start, huh?
I should add that under certain rpm levels and throttle positioning you can hear some air noise like "shhhhhh" or a whistle noise. I diagnosed it as something to do with the VR and never thought twice about it. This probably has something to do with the issue I am having.

Does anyone's engine "ping" during light acceleration around 1300-1700rpm or so? Does this have any effect on the engine?
I want to diagnose this noise I hear as light pinging, it sounds like a bolt is loose and its rattling on a piece of metal, if you know what I mean? Like a vibration a little bit. Only happens at ~1.3k to 1.7k in 1st gear, after that I cant really hear it because of other noise.

That's a bad video didn't hear anything unusual in it!
Besides if it's pre-ignition pinging you will only hear it under a load during acceleration.
Tape your iphone on the top of the engine, close the hood, run around the block under load then pull iphone and post the video.
