Anyone have experience with the Firehawk WIDE OVAL Indy 500 tires? Wanting to go to a non run flat and I can pick up a set of these in stock sizes for less than $500.00.

I have read on this forum a few times where members were praising these tires. I don't have these on either of my Vettes but I have been running them on my Dodge short bed pickup for a couple of years and I couldn't be happier with them. They are quieter than what was on the truck to begin with, and handle 100% better. I made the truck seem like a complete different vehicle. Both wet and dry traction is good also.

when i bought my Z06 in Jan. of this year that is what was on the car...new tires so i see no reason to replace them till they are worn out..i have been to the track once in them (1/4 mile) and i think they are too hard of a compound for track use, but around town and hwy they are pretty good tire..they seem to handle pretty well...i am not impressed at all when its wet out, as soon as you get on it, they want to spin..but i would guess that is the same for all the brands out there..will i use the tires again..prob not..

these people use them on all of their Z06s that are run on the TMS infield road course

http://www.totaldrivingexperience.com/

they are made by Bridgestone in Japan (BS owns Firestone)

I have been impressed with their grip and life under those harsh conditions

so much so that I would have bought them if they were available in the size I need

I just went from the Goodyear run flats to the Wide Oval Indy 500 Firestones on my C6 in May.Man what a difference ! They are much quieter with no cabin noise and a smoother ride not to mention the price difference.I had the 4 wheel alignment done at the same time with the toe and camber set to 0 to keep from wearing the inside of the tires out prematurely.Road hazard ,mount and balanced, alignment ,tax etc. out the door for under $1200 for 4 instead of $2800 for GY run flats .It was a no brainer for me.I know I'm running a risk of having a flat on regular tires but that's what I have towing on my insurance for.

I have these on my '98 and they are great. They were on the car when I bought it one year ago but so far they have given good traction and good handling on mountain roads. I am a convervative driver however! Good luck
