Default brake padd question

I went to do my brakes today, after pulling off both the front and rear wheels discovered they do not need doing, I am the 4th owner, car has about 54.3 k miles on it, been hearing a sqweeking intermintenatly from the brakes but both the front and rear have at least half of the pad left. My question is about how many miles between bake shoes are people getting I do not track my car.

Thanks

I have seen if the pads have gotten really HOT in the past they will sqweek on you even if at 1/2 life on them.. Also if they get really wet and you try to stop will do the same thing.. Robert

I changed mine at 45k miles and they were completely done; in fact down to the wear markers. Like you, no track use and my braking is average for an A4

I just changed mine with 54000 miles. My pads were about half. I changed them any how because I had a slight pulsing and I was putting on new rotors.

You could lightly sand them to break the glazing, and re-lube your hardware with high-temp caliper grease.
