I just have to bring this up about jacking pucks.I guess some owners use them and some don't.What I don't understand is if one is sipposed to use them then why don't they come with the car ?

They used to issue them, but stopped when they then had to start issuing ramps (so that we could pull onto a standard lift). The cost just got out of hand, with the viagra (with the corvette logo's on them). GM is like every other company, cutting costs . . .
Two important times to use pucks: If you are using a floor jack to raise one side. It keeps the jack off the rocker panel plastic. It can be managed without pucks, but it's just a lot easier. And if you go to a shop that uses the swing arms under the side frame, they are at an angle that will hit the plastic even if they try not to, which they won't try.
You can make or buy a set of four for under $20 bucks, so why not just make it easier on yourself and carry a set in the rear compartment and bring them out when needed.
As I said earlier, when I took one of my cars to a big tire store, the tech was very impressed with how much easier it made it for him to place the lift arms and asked where he could get a set.

I too would think it is more of a cost cutting thing - and the aftermarket has stepped up to provide the pucks. I went an bought a set of the BMW ones - I leave them in all the time and they work very well on the car.

They do not come with the car because they are not the suggested method of jacking the car. There are jacking points specifically spelled out in the owners manual, which do not require the use of jacking pucks. If you were suppose to jack the car, then I guess, with your logic, a jack should have been supplied as well... jacking pucks were never issued with this car. The four rail slots are there for transportation tie down points. The only thing crazy about this thread are some of the thoughts.
Just some of MY thoughts.

I bought my car from the first owner and he had the net, clear front lic plate cover, cargo shade, front lic suround(The U shaped thing) and a puck that he said was all included when he bought it new in a box, I guess maybe the dealer put it in there, It is a brass looking puck with an oblong part that goes into the hole under the car.

I bought a set of the black hockey puck style jacking pucks because in the event that I can't move, despite having Michelin ZP's on the car and I call AAA I don't want some idiot to show up and try to life the car and in the process crack one of the rocker panels.
If you have a flat tire with AAA, they'll send a service person who'll jack up the car, Remove the tire & take it to be fixed and come back and install it. They won't simply respond with a flat bed tow for a flat tire. And I have no control over what they do to jack it up. Once again the owners manual clearly shows the jacking points, and I have more trust in the GM engineers than that of a AAA contracted service shop.

they cant hurt! go get 4 hockey pucks and 4 eyehook screws (# 6 or #8). drill small hole in center of puck then screw in the eyehooks. test by putting them into slots under car to see how deep to screw in eyehooks. screw in until the puck in tight against car when inserted. Ten bucks max! AND you really dont even need 4. i've never used more than 2.
