I would just get the standard GM fluids. That is what I used; however AMSOIL is good stuff too.
Your clutch...rated for 450rwhp, but I would say that realistically that once you are running near 400 rwhp or a little more, it is time to upgrade. I have a cammed Z with LTs, about 410-415 rwhp and I just went to the LS7 setup. I have an extra for sale...brand new. I don't really drag my car, just some spirited driving from time to time.
can i get amsoil at my local automotive store???
where do i get it
Find a local distributor through the Amsoil website or you can purchase it directly on their site and have it shipped to you. Most local auto shops do not carry Amsoil products.
If you look up your car's make and model on their website, all the fluid capacities are listed along with all of the fluids weights and part numbers for everything they sell for your car. When I did mine though, One gallon of ATF was sufficient for the trans and 2 quarts of gear oil for the diff did it. I just switched everything to amsoil and noticed significantly smoother transmission operation with their ATF. Good stuff, and if you can, get signed up with a dealer because you recoup the cost of being a preferred member ($20/yr if I recall correctly) easily with the savings on your first purchase.
So my new m12 transmission is on the way. What fluid should I buy for it, and what fluid for my diff.
How much power can a stock clutch hold
A forum vendor who builds Tremec transmissions tested various fluids in a high horsepower standing mile Corvette. The only fluid that prevented the trans gears from being damaged under this Corvette's high horsepower was ROYAL PURPLE's SYNCROMAX.
There are a couple of AWESOME DIY write-ups on this subject here. Do a search and you should find the pictures and it list the amounts. I did this a couple of weeks ago and it was very easy to do. Recommend getting a little hand pump to put the fluids in the DIFF and TRANNY.
well i couldn't get amsoil in time so i opted to mobil 1 synthetic dexIII atf. is that a good one?
i bought 4 quarts, is that enough? does the diff take the same thing

Diff and Tranny do not take the same fluids. Recommends for three quarts of the correct fluid for the diff and four for the tranny. You will probably only use 3.5 quarts for the tranny and a little over 2.5 for the diff.
Make sure you put the correct fluids in each and do NOT switch them up or mix them up for that matter.
