Default Ground Cleaning Question

I want to clean the ground under the hood, driver side, and I can't get it to release. I've tried pushing the tabs down with fingers and screwdrivers but it won't go low enough under the housing to release both tabs. Are there any tricks to getting this off? Any ideas would be a great help.

I seem to recall unbolting it from the frame 1st makes it easier to work on.

And be very careful with that stud bolt, it will shear easily. I think Bill Curlee has a complete post on this subject.

I did unscrew the bolt but I can't get it to release. I wiggled and pulled the F&*k out of it. I'll try again.

Just did mine this week. Only way i could free mine was to use a small flat screwdriver, from the top, to pry down carefully under the bar on the top half of the connector, and release the tab on the body of the plastic case. Still bloodied myself though...

I got it off and it was pretty clean for a 97, no corrosion. I sprayed it with some Corrosion X and put it back together. I just shoved the screwdriver way down there and got the housing to pop off. My prob was I was focusing more on pushing the tab down instead of raising the housing over the tab. I don't even think the tab goes down anyway. Thanks for the help.

Glad to help someone for a change. I've been doing more learning here than helping. My grounds have been pretty clean so far as well, and I have treated those I've cleaned with Corrosion-X as well
