which partition keeps out the sound from rear trunk area the best, a 1" piece of foam or a 1" thick wood one??? weight not consideration sound deadening only.
Denser materials block more sound than less dense materials. So, wood. But 1" thick of wood seems a bit extreme; you should be OK with MDF or plywood that's 1/2" thick.

this.
myself and another CF member built our own out of 3/4 plywood... and i added some dynamat to the back and carpeted over. while it is a little on the heavy side... my wifes complaining is quite a bit easier to understand now... which i guess could mean i need to get rid of it
all in all... with about $30 in material... and a 6 pack... i love it.
thanks for replies, my car came with thick one and wondered if worth change, guess not so will keep what i have and someday dynamat rear area for more sound proof.
