Default Convertible top rubbing

My 2001 convertible is starting to rub the paint where it touches the trunk area on the passangers side. There is a spot about 1/4 inch wide and about 4 inches long. There is also a mark on the convertible top on the edge. This year is the 1st I have ever noticed this. I would send photos but I don't know how to add photos to this.
Is there some way to adjust the way the top sits when in the up position?

This was a known issue with earlier verts. You can buy a newer weather strip to replace the old one that goes along the back of your vert top. The top should look like it does not sit flush to your trunk area but if you look closer the weather strip has sealed the back area. Thsi will keep your top from rubbing on your cars paint.

I had the same problem with my 2000, you need need weathersripping on the last bow, I bought mine from gmpartsdirect, don't wait it will get worse, the weatherstripping keeps the top off the deck. Before I replaced it I couldn't fit a thin piece of cardboard between the top and the the deck, after I can almost fit my finger.I wish i new sooner before the damage was done.

Looks like the 5th Bow Seal is only held on by 2 nuts at each end. There's no mention of adhesive in the procedure. I guess it'll be obvious when you remove the old seal if it was glued in place or if its a push fit.

Document ID# 656624
2002 Chevrolet Corvette
Weatherstrip Replacement - Folding Top Number Five Bow
Removal Procedure

Position the top closed.
Remove the protective pads from the ends of the #5 bow covering the nuts to the 5 bow.
Remove the nuts attaching the ends of the weatherstrip to the 5 bow.

Remove the weatherstrip.

Installation Procedure

Install the #5 bow weatherstrip.

Notice

Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

Install the nuts to the ends of the weatherstrip.
Tighten

Tighten the nuts to 4 N·m (35 lb in).
Install the protective pads to the weatherstrip nuts.
Install the protective pads to the ends of the bow.
Reposition the folding top to the original position.
