Default Engine dress up stuff

Where are some places with good pricing? Just looking for different options. Not necessarily chrome.
I see a lot of polished stuff that seems VERY expensive for a slightly bent piece of small metal.

I looked at mamotorworks.com

Is there any place else? or anyone selling something?

I like the perforated intake cover and stuff like that. but that piece alone is almost 300. thats just crazy.

Engine dress up and other cosmetic mods are a perfect example of "beauty is in the eye of the beholder".

I've seen many show cars that have every possible piece covered in carbon fiber, hydrocarbon, chrome, stainless steel, etc.

I think the key is having a good idea of what you want to accomplish going in. I personally try to stay away from covers as they add weight, plus I like the idea of a modified component vs. a cover over a stock component. However covers are necessary if you want to "cover up" a component that would be difficult to modify, aka a fender walls, etc.

I am personally planning a design that includes real CF laminate, chrome caps and painted components. I like the mix between these components vs. one constant type. Tomboy and TR6Speed are two members IMO who pulled that theme off very well.

As to vendors, check the vendor ribbon on the left <------ to get an idea of more engine dress up options. Yes, the Corvette Tax is in play when it comes to cosmetic enhancements, just like a boob job is expensive. However, the results are outstanding!

The "show me your engine bay" threads are also a great place to get ideas.

Good luck!

Just depends on what you really want to do with the car.

Clean and stock look the best. Unless of course you need the parts to make room for your performance modifications.

I'll echol what has been said. Just plan it all out and think about what would go good together. Once you come up with that then the best thing to do is to shop around. Many of the vendors on here and others as well sell the exact same stuff. Just keep an eye out for sales or specials and also see what the shipping charges are going to be.

I usually try to support Forum Vendors if there isn't that much difference in the price, but being an informed shopper makes sense.

First off Thanks Al (MSG C5). I will again say that you need to plan what you want to accomplish. Look at diferent dressed up engine's either at local shows or right here on the forum. You can do a search or simply ask for people to post up the engine bays. Then look at the great vendors that support the forum and see what they have.

I used RPI Designs, Ecklers, American Hydro-carbon, Zip products West Coast Corvette's and I am sure a few others to get what I wanted.

Bill, what did you use on your inner fender covers to get them so shiny and black?

Thanks

303 Aerospace Protectant, with SPF-40, great stuff. Unlike Armoral it doesn't stay sticky or wet. Check it out...
