Ohhh ok makes sense to why most places it said that.

Are there any known problem/faults in the 01's? Anything I should look out for?

Never owned a vette before..

Thanks in advance

The 01's are the most reliable. No valve spring problems.

That's good to know.

Anymore heads up will be highly appreciated

I'm new to all this. I will research more once I'm on my desktop (iPhone ATM) but how do you lower these cars? Bolts? How much are they approx?

My previous car was a modified twin turbo 300zx and I had coilovers..I'm guessing these cars are not the same at all

the z06 is already really low, you can put it even lower on the stock bolts. they also make lowering bolts that will put the airdam on the ground on a flat road.

The '01s had the seal issues resulting in oil consumption. Not a deal breaker, but I am not going to say it is superior in maintenance over the '02-'04 models.

This is one fact most will probably agree on here...the FRC is the best looking C-5 on the street!

My '01 is an August 2000 build car, and drank oil to the tune of 1qt per 300 miles if I gave it stick. Almost all 385bhp LS6's could be induced to use oil, just depends how you drive it. SPend a lot of time above 4800rpm and oil is gonna be gone.

Took me until 35,000 miles to get GM to finally replace the motor with a reringed LS6 - they refused to ut in a 405hp unit, so I got a "factory reringed" crat 385hp LS6.

Never used another drop of oil until 80,000 miles.

Then I put the LS7 in.

The 2001 is still a great car and I woudl still get one over an 02 to 04 car.

Overall more hardcore and lighter car with more of a racecar feel.

i think the valves are different also and i belive the early blocks had holes drilled between the main webs and later blocks were machined in this area. if i remember right there was a issue with crank case pressure. also replaced one engine in a o1 zo6 that had scored cylinder walls from piston ring issue. this engine was using 1 qt in 800 miles but i still remember the test drive and will never forget how hard it pulled from 3500 and up

Great to hear and I am happy that you are not having issues. But A LOT have had issues. The later ZO6s (2002 and up) didn't have the seal issues, because GM made some nice changes to the initial ZO6 setup. I love the C5Z very much, but would not buy the 2001 knowing what the later years offered.

There was no oil consumption problem with 01 Z06s. There was a problem with drivers. How would an engineer ever thing someone would drive a big American V8 like a 90CC 2 stroke Honda dirt bike?

i have an 01 ZO6 and my thoughts on the person who said it drank a quart every 300miles!!!......thats just rediculous. My car MAY use a qt in 1500miles. In all honesty that doesnt bother me bc thats the worst ive seen it get with me driving really aggressive for that amount of time.

whats the red line on your LS6? 6600rpm or 3600 rpm?

If you never revved it out you never fully appreciated the power delivery.

How many miles on your '01 Z? Mine has about 92,000 miles under the belt. These cars where made to enjoy. And enjoy on the road.

If I babied the car, as I did during various test phases I once went 2700 miles before noticing oil level dropping. But as say, spend a weekend "touring" the Texas back roads and need to top the oil up by lunch time saturday.

I have seen car show queens on original tyres, doesnt mean anything except the car wasnt driven and the tyres are shot
