Wednesday morning I am taking off on my first road trip with the corvette. Bought it in January and live in Richmond, Va but I am from St. Louis and will be taking the car back home for the first time. The distance is about 13.5 hours and I am going to do it in one day.
So my question is does anyone have some words of advice from previous road trips in the Vette? Thanks in advance and happy travels
Just came back from driving my '04 coupe from Baltimore to Atlanta in 13 hours with 5 or 6 stops;great car to travel in and lots of room for luggage. Have a great time!
Whats the question?
Cell phone, AAA card, fix a flat , credit card, sunglasses , good nights sleep and ur off. Have a great trip.
Oh,....check the obvious, ...oil,coolant,tires,
Recently did NY to Bowling Green Ky (918 mi, nonstop). Thought Id be a little unconfortable...nope....just as comfortable as using it around here , great road car.
Do agree with the can of FlatFix, Plug kit, compressor, flares, cables, small First Aid Kit, GPS if you have it.
Dont worry about the Techron, you'll be running straight and that tank will be empty in a few hrs (not much time for it to soak on the fuel senders), add it when you get back.

Also a great time to check out your gas milage. Just completed a four hour trip, averaged close to 75 mph and just over 28 mpg.
Went from Pheonix to eastern Nebraska last Sept. 1300+ miles one way and 19 hours straight through. Only stopped for gas and an occasional pee. Took food and drinks with me. Beef jerky is a good companion. Get a bra if you don't have one and some good wipers in case it rains. Have fun.
That's good advice. A good rule is don't follow anyone too close. Lot's of folks will simply straddle a big chunk of rubber or other junk. If you're too close you will have no time to steer around it. In fact, you might not even have time to say "Oh S**T"!
I came real close to not missing a chunk of rubber on I-64 going through Richmond last month. I never was a tailgater but in this car I now keep some extra space between me and the next vehicle.
stay the hell away from trucks and don't follow too closely to anyone. If a rock is flying through the air, it will find a Corvette for whatever reason.
A bra wouldn't be a bad idea but the windshield is more prone to flying debris. Have fun in St Louis.
I drive that trip 2-3 times a year to see kids and grandkids. You are going to enjoy I-64 through the mountains, when you get to Indiana and Illinois it is BORING !!! 1) Fill up before you get to WVA. Gas is 10-12 cents more a gallon there. 2) Cops always sit just across the border in Illinois and generate a lot of revenue for the state. Be careful.
