Not sure what your current setup is. I will tell you that my next major purchase for my cammed and LT equipped car will be a good set of heads. More than likely AFR or TRICK FLOW.

Not sure about the LS3. I was under the impression the LS3 ports do not mate well with our LS1/6 cars. But I haven't looked to far into that.

AFAIK, they'll bolt on, but you're gonna need a LS3 intake manifold/TB setup, and then probably a conversion kit so it'll work with you car's computer. Lots easier to buy cathedral port heads, like CNC'd 243s, or Trickflow (my choice) or AFRs. If you have a Z, you already have good heads, with lightweight valves, so you can send them to TEA, and get them modified, and save some cash.

243 heads are still a far better head then LS3 heads. Look at some AFR 215 heads or Trick Flow.

There are a few tuners taking LS3/ L92 heads off the LS3 engines and replacing with PP 243 heads and getting better HP and TQ

The LS3 heads might work OK in an all out race application for high RPM use. But the port volume on the LS3 head is large which means low flow velocity and will rob your throttle response and low end torque production. Not good for a street car IMO.

Yes, which is exactly why it is designed for a larger displacement engine (6.2). I see similar results from GTO guys putting them on their cars. The cars just aren't that fast after the swap. It is not all about max power, which some people never understand. 243's or 799's ftw for us 5.7 guys.

This is a case of bigger doesn't mean better.

Correct and why several builders are putting PP 243 heads on LS3 blocks. Great throttle response and much more low end torque ie OFF the LINE quicker
