hey, i was just curious as to if anybody's tried this:
i've been looking for a way to do 18"s all around on a budget, and the local shop has a 4th gen camaro with C5 rear thin spokes all around - 275/40-18s up front & 295/35-18s in back and says they've never had a problem out of them (my main concern was the 295s on the 9.5" wheel).
that got me to thinking... maybe i could just get another set of stock rear wheels & put them up front with some 265/35s and get some 295/35s for the rear on my FRC
Invos are what i've been looking at for a non-runflat street tire that can hold 480/473 to the ground.

thoughts?
I am running OEM C6 Z06 wheels on my 98. The fronts are 18X9.5 275/35ZR18 and the rears are 19X12 325/30ZR19. Just make sure you have the right combination for your speed sensor or it will throw a code.
The only issue may be the offset. The front is 58mm and the rear is 65mm.
Also, why go with a budget tire (Nitto Invo) to hold that much power? Take a look at Michelin's Pilot SuperSport - Michelin knows a thing or two about keeping corvettes stuck to a track
I have 18x9.5's on all four corners of my car, so yes the rear C5 wheels do fit on the front. However, I wouldn't feel comfortable putting 295's on a 9.5" wheel. I have 265/35 (front) and 275/40 (rear).
thanks for a bit of help. and just curious... has anybody else personally ran a 295/35-18 on a stock 18x9.5? that camaro is the first one i've actually seen do it. i know Nitto recommends a 10.0 minimum

C5 Z06 wheels are a dime a dozen nowadays. everybody has them
...i know there's good reason: they're great wheels, but i also want something a little different, which is why i had the idea of using stock thin-spokes

oh, i know all about the tire height differences & how to correct for them

because i don't crap gold bricks & the Maggie set me back a good bit for the time being, but i'd still rather have something better than the current BFG G-Force pieces of crap that are on it now.

that's why i ain't doing the same size all around...
as mentioned in the first post

I see that Hankook has the V12's in 275/35/18 and that would keep the height stagger about right for the ABS.....
I just purchased a pair of c5 z06 wheels 18x 10.5 for the rear of my frc, and will be moving the old rears to the front (18x9.5 with 274/40/18 tires, I 'm hoping this comb. will work. I would like to run 295/40/18 or 295/35/18 on the 18x10.5 wheels, if anyone has tried this please let me know if it is possible.

well, actually, comparing the heights of stock Eagle F1s & Invos, to use a 295/35-18 nitto, i'd be closest to stock stagger ratio running a 255/35-18
the V12s don't come in anything close to tall enough for the rear except for a stock 275/40-18, and the whole point is to get a wider contact patch out back to help keep the rear end behind me through turns
shoot, if i could justify buying a new set of tires every few months, i'd just get some R888s in a 265/35-18 & 305/35-18 - they'd be the perfect heights, offer much better performance, and look amazinger. i'd just have to get a new set of wheels.

running those rear tires on the front will probably cause problems because 295/35-18s are actually shorter than 275/40-18s. as for the 295/40s, they'd be .5" shorter than ideal, but might work. but then again, that's gonna be a tall set of tires @ 26.7 & 27.3
it'd be interesting if it works.

that'd be great if i'd concede to a 19" rear wheel... but i won't
i do have a couple friends with V12s & they love them, too.

Hahaha! Fair enough. I know a lot of guys run the Invos on high power cars, so I don't mean to make it sound like you're going to be driving on stones or something.
yep, I know the 295's are not ideal for the 9.5 wheel but it doesnt look bad to me.
sweet!
