A friend of mind removed the wipers and shroud to cut a hole for accessing the oil sender unit. He is now having issues with his wipers. With one wiper installed (passenger I think) the wiper goes through its full travel. However with both wipers installed, the wipers stop on the glass about midway. Anyone else experience this problem?
The extra resistance of the second blade is not letting the pin drop and set for the reverse move of the motor for when it goes into the detent, this would cause the arms to go up and not "drop" down. (it will make sense when he looks at it)
Tell him to look at the motor and he should be able to see the little pin on the side as it turns; when I did mine I put the wipers on delay then pulled the key when they sat for the delay. Doing this the little pin should be just past the catch point, if not he will need to remove the transmission arm and readjust.
Now it's probably been about a year since I fixed mine (and my memory sucks) but that should send him in the right direction
Here is the post I followed if you look at step 8 you can see the pin I'm referring to at the 12 o'clock position and the part that catches it is at about the 5 o'clock position.
Just remove the center torx screw, lift up the plate & adjust exactly as shown the second picture. You don't need to take your wipers blades off to do this. You may have to take them off to readjust if they're not parking exactly.
