My car arrived Tuesday morning on the ship. Thats the good news. The bad news is it wont be unloaded till next Monday or Tuesday! Matson Shipping is claiming this ship is carrying double the usual amount of vehicles and apparently mine is in the very back of the ship. The only good thing about this delay is that I convinced the dealer to let me take delivery from their process center which is right next to the dock. This way no 20 year old lot boy gets to drive my car to the dealer 20 miles away, slamming the gears all the way.
Well its going to be a long weekend...wish me luck :D
I would like to take pity on you because you have to wait but lets see, your in Hawaii, its hot, there are babes in bikinis. I am in Alberta, it's snowing, there are babes in parkas. Sorry, :nopity :D :D
A whole week to unload the boat? That seems a little excessive. At least I hope so. Mine is supposed to arrive this Sunday. Did they call you as soon as it arrived, or did you have to call them?
Racer 44...you are right about the weather and the girls, but where is the love man????
Hey Scott...yeah I know it sounds kinda fishy to me. Hell it only took the ship 4 days to get here and a week to unload???
I had my dealer check the status and he found out the ship arrived this last Tuesday morning. I think it left California on the previous Friday. I tell you doing a courtesy delivery is a pain in the butt. I am doing all the leg work as far as registration and safety check. Hopefully I might avoid the state sales tax by doing my own registration (have a friend who knows a friend...) That will save me almost 2K so I guess the hassel will be worth it.
Let me know when your car arrives and we can try hook up...
Thanks for the encouraging words guys :D Thats very generous of you Maurice but hopefully I will be able to get a ride one way or the other, if not maybe I will call you. It would be nice to meet some more local Vette guys.
The latest word I got was the car was unloaded from the ship but is still in a container. Looks like it will be Monday or Tuesday now for delivery. The dealer changed his mind about me picking it up at the dock because he does not have a GM tech to do the PDI (inspection) there. So I insisted that they flatbed it to the dealer from the dock and he agreed.
Thanks again guys and I will give you a grin report when I finally take delivery and drive it for the first time. :D
Next Saturday night, there is a car show at the Wendy's in Kapolei. If it is a nice night around the island, usually over 200 cars show up and there are plenty vettes out there. Scott should have his car out there and I will have my newly acquired 69 out there.
There is a Vette cruise tomarrow if you guys are interested. I'm going to crash the party with my Z8. :D :D
When and Where? I don't know if I'm worthy or not, but I would like to crash the party with my 2001 Monte Carlo SS. Or maybe Maurice would let me drive one of his two Vettes :chevy Is it affiliated with the Corvette Club or Association, or neither?
By the way "NoMercy", that is one beautiful Z you have there. I can't wait till you get that on the island!

Thanks bruddah!! I just got home :D It was sponsored by the Hawaii Corvette Association.
Well guys, I finally got the word. Car is ready to be picked up tomorrow morning :D . I told them not to detail it, only pull the plastic off and wash it very carefully. They claim it came thru the delivery process without any damage, but I will check it myself (especially the rocker panels). Now I just gotta find a ride down there...I'll give you my first impressions tomorrow when I get home
