. . . or perhaps he was just driving in that general direction. I often wonder how many people thought I was following them when I was on patrol and just happened to be behind them for several miles.
It's not so much the patrol car following me, it's those dang black helicopters everywhere I go.
The saying around here is 8 your great 9 your mine as far as speeding goes. I wouldn't bet your money on it but I use the rule and never been stopped. I also use rabbits and stay behind them 1/2 mile.

Highway Patrolmen don't "just follow" any vehicle for miles at any time. Any time a cop follows a vehicle he has a basic reason or like I said he's in a crappy mood and is just trying to aggravate you. While municipal cops usually don't have very many miles they can follow before running out their jurisdiction so they'll turn off before long or pass simply pass you.
I drive 5-8MPH over the speed limit at all times. I do it regardless of highway patrol or cops around. They're not going to pull over a Vette owner for doing 5 over. When I got my first Z06, I was doing 81 on cruise control at about 2am in a 65 zone. Highway patrol was behind me for about 2-3 miles, never pulled me over, and just cruised right along with me. Eventually he got off at an exit about 3 before my own. Funny thing is that while I was a *little* worried, my friend (a CHP officer) told me that most of the guys he works with could care less about pulling over Vette owners unless we're doing something really stupid, so I just held my ground just to see. (Risky, I know. But it would look worse if I hit my brakes or suddenly slowed down, right?)
I don't normally drive that fast though. I usually cap my speed at about 73MPH. It's a safe number and I've cruised next to lots of CHP doing that exact speed for MANY miles while other drivers around us slowed to 65 and we passed them up. LOL
So you are the one who was slowing traffic last time I was in LA. Knock it off and speed like everyone else. I will be there in 2 weeks. If you see a blue Chevy truck with Washington plates get the hell out of my way.

Um, what? LOL I said I go OVER the speed limit with or without LEOs around. Why would I slow down traffic?
If that happened around here all he wanted was to do a bit of road racing. And you disappointed him. I had 2 Sheriffs at a 7-11 today tell me they think they could take me. I laughed and said I bet you could take me.....to jail. They just laughed.
Ran into a local sheriff while getting gas. He came over to my car and started asking questions. Ended up taking him for a short ride and he really enjoyed. Said he was hoping to buy one some day when his kids were older.

Could you give me the winning Illinois lottery numbers for this week? It appears that you are blessed with the uncanny ability to read minds.
Good thing you were being a law abiding citizen just like the rest of us here on the forum.
One of the benefits of going to the track and driving like a maniac for 2 hours - it quenches the need to drive like that on the streets. Already know how fast my car goes, how it hugs the curves, how it brakes. Just drive like normal person on the street except with 500+ hp! Glad this thread didn't have the "Got my First Ticket Last Night" title.
How do you assume you "Disappointed a LEO"? Without a personal stop? I don't understand how you cheated him out from a $200 stop?
Are you one of "those guys", the kind who just like to pick fights on the internet?
You sound like one of them.
I never said I "cheated" anyone and for you to imply that I did is you looking to pick a fight.
My "personal opinion" is that after following me for 4 miles and flashing me with his radar (there wasn't another car in sight) before turning around, he was a bit disappointed.
If you don't agree, I couldn't care less. If you are a cop (like your avatar implies), your attitude is the reason so many people dislike cops. A few bad attitudes give all cops a bad name.

Nope, don't go around picking fights ... just that assuming is not a fair judgment of what a LE officer does. Many LE has flipped a top light on, a short burst of a siren and a flip of the radar ... as to say "have a good night". Yes, I am a retired LE for 33 years .. 16 of those years as the elected Sheriff. I know many city, county and state troopers who have pulled out to follow a car, run a stolen on the plate, run the register owner for warrants and/or valid DL ... found everything to be OK and turn off. No sir, I don't an attitude.
