Default Wheels Question

Hi,

I want to replace my stock wheels on my C5 2001 Silver. I want to go with Black wheels (I think they look cool). My question is curently my stock wheels are 17X8.5 and 18X9.5. What if I get 17X9.5 and 18X10.5, will I need to repalce the tires or will they fit with no issues. My tires are still new. I just want to know what is the difference and if I will have any fitment issues.

My other question is since I have tire pressure sensors, do I need to buy something extra. Or is it a direct swap take stock wheels and replace them with the new black wheels.

Thank you in advance

RB

As long as the new wheels are made to accept the C5 TPS, then a direct swap could be done. If you get compatible wheels, then just be sure to keep the sensors on the same location as they were on the car with the old wheels and you will not have to retrain the sensors.

The stock size tires may work on the larger width wheels, but they are not the optimum sizes. I don't know what brand tires you have now, but take a look on the Tire Rack's web site under the tires you have and see what the specs say. There will be a recommended rim width range listed. Most likely the rears will be within the range recommended, but the fronts may not.

I just wanted to understand the difference I am going to stick with what my car spec sheet says 17x8.5 front and 18x9.5 rear. Also I m taking it to the dealer for them to install the wheels.
So can I assume if the wheels says "C5 size" or "Fit C5" that they accept the TPS. Also I am assuming that the dealer will know what they are doing right?

I have not once had a "good" experience with a stealership. I guarantee you, you will find more information on this forum than you could ever hope to get from the dealer.

As for the TPMS, luckily we drive a car that has lots of parts made for it. That being said, many manufacturers make wheels in C5 sizes that are more to accept the stock TPMS.

Some good options are:
Black C6 Z06 wheels - repos aren't always the best quality
TSW Nurburgring wheels - these are actually a gunmetal but still look good
forgestar f14 in black
Powder coat anywheel that you like that isn't black

I think black wheels should be illegal! Just my 2 cents.
