Default Shifter gasket question

Does anyone sell the shifter gasket and the little plastic cap that goes on the end of the shifter separately? I shortened a ZO6 shifter and want to try it out, but thought I might need a new gasket and possibly the plastic cap on hand before I start the project.Went to the stealership and they said they don't even list them in the parts book.

You really don't need a gasket as lubricant doesn't get up into the area. I think the gasket really serves to lessen vibrations. But if it concerns you, a light application of RTV silicone sealant will suffice. I did mine in this manner four years ago w/o any leaks or vibrations.

The plastic bushing at the end of the lever is not available from GM. No after market source reproduces them, either. If you're concerned about breaking the bushing on your Z06 shifter, spray the bushing with a lubricating spray before you R&R it. That will reduce the chance of breaking it.

If you find you still need the bushing, contact some Corvette recyclers (check the site vendors) or place an ad in the classifieds. Anyone who has converted to an MGW shifter may have what you need as the MGW shifter was engineered to eliminate the bushing.

No one sells the two items you mentioned.
Why not purchase a thin piece of rubber to make up a new gasket?

Are you speaking of the plastic black cup that goes over the end of the shifters shaft, & sets down inside the shifter box?
If it is indeed the black cup,did you booger/break the cup up or are you just wanting to have one handy in case?

You're right, I was just wanting to have one in case and no I didn't break to one in the car. I have gasket material so I guess I can always make one if necessary. Just thought it would be easier if I had one handy.
Thanks

Just be carefull & don't break the black bushing.
Do you even need to take the bushing off , if not no worries.

Yeah I need to take the bushing off, when I got the ZO6 shifter it didn't come with the bushing so I'll just have to be careful taking the old one off and try using some kind of lubricant as hotwheels57 suggested.
Thanks
