Default Car value question - 402 Z06

What do you guys think a 2003 Z06 with a Forged 402 and 38k miles is worth? Car is extremely clean and built with quality parts. AFR 225, FAST92, Kooks, Ron Davis radiator and LS7 clutch. The owner is fixed on 27k but I think it is really only worth about 24k. Car is red.

Your 3K apart, split the difference with him if you like the car.

I guess you are right. I am just trying to get a feel for where C6Z06 prices are going to fall to if the economy stays in it's current condition. My feeling is I don't want to pay more than 25k for a C5 when it's possible I could pay 33-36K for a C6Z.

You might want to make SURE it will pass emissions where your at-could be a big issue!

A C6 Z06 for that price will be very high mileage and who knows what else wrong with it.

Most decent C6 Z06's are in the $42K - $45K range that I have seen.

Oh it will be an issue, I am dealing with smog right now on my convertible. Any car I buy I will make the owner responsible for the smog at least that buys me two years.

I was thinking after the first of the year where prices might be if this economy is still in the tank, I've already seen a couple going for 40k. I am in no rush, this second Vette will be primarily for track days. I just don't want to put a roll bar in my convertible.

In that case, you're not really looking for a A+++ condition one, so you have a better chance of finding a lower price.

I was looking at A+++ condition ones. I'm really holding out for a C7, if you couldn't tell by my avatar.

If it has a forged 402 and has paper work for all the things done to it, 27k does not seem like a bad deal. And btw a c6z in mid 30s is rare.

I don't know what else he has done to the car, in terms of brakes and etc but if its a nice car like you said yourself with a forged 402, which i might add is not cheap to come by, i say 27k is a good price. Here in the Northern Cali, a stock 03z with 38k would go for around 23/24k and you are getting a car that probably makes about 130-150 more rwhp for 3/4k more.

snooze / you may lose a very good car vs the next one may be not so great , but cheaper ... good things usually cost more than used/abused ones

just saying - $ 2000 is not much more, and very easy to spend on repairs on a lesser car

but you know that

I'd pass on that one unless all the changes are things you would do anyway. You have to consider that the car was probably driven hard and put away wet. Just my $.02

I'd stay away. A modded car is worth less than stock. Just look at the cars in the "for sale" section. People have spent tons of money modding their Corvettes. Then when they try to sell they can't.

Very few want a Corvette that was molested and trashed out.

Well that all depends on what it was used for and who did the work and the parts used. I just did a full top end with high end parts TFS heads, Fast intake, cam.... Had the work done a couple months ago at RPM Motors a top of the line shop.. Mine is just a street car no track days except maybe a drap pass or two a year. So my car isn't beat on hard very often other then an on ramp here or there. Which means someone could save a bunch of money if i sold them my car and they wanted a head cam car anyway.

my .02 is if you have the full history of the car and its a good one its worth it.
