Default Z06 Options

Is there a thread that lists options that could be had on a Z06? Are there different stereo options? Navigation? Or anything like that? I am considering '02-'04 cars. All the cars I've seen online seem to have the same stereo, so maybe that was the only one? Is it only a single disc? Does it play MP3s?

I really prefer to keep my cars stock, so while I know it would probably be easy to go aftermarket, I would just love to know my options here.

Thanks in advance!

Frequently asked questions sticky: http://forums.corvetteforum.com/c5-z...tions-faq.html

There weren't many options available. But from what I remember, there was just one stereo model, single disc only, it doesn't play MP3's, and no nav. I think HUD was an option in '01, but standard in '02-'04. BSM's were another option, as were dimming mirrors.

Thanks for the response. I read through the FAQ, but there is a ton of info to absorb there! I assumed that there was only the one radio. I am a bit disappointed that they can't play MP3s. I got really used to being able to put 110 songs on a single disc! I think if I do get a Z06 that I will have to put in an aftermarket radio and just put the original one in storage.

Does the stereo sound ok? I don't need a world class stereo (I would have the LS6 to listen to) but I would like to be able to play some rock and it to not sound horrible. My current car has a factory subwoofer and all that and it sounds plenty good to me (though audiophiles all complain about it). Or will I need to spend money to upgrade speakers and add an amp to get decent sound? That would be annoying as I like a stock car....

Some '01s were available with a cassette player instead of a single disc, but there aren't too many. Most people bitch about the factory Bose, but unless you go to great lengths to reduce the road noise, it's not worth it to upgrade, IMO. I've got a great stereo at home, and in my other cars, so it's not an issue for me. Rock is also my preference, and the limited dynamic range used in rock means you don't need to have as good a sound system, IMO. Hell, I like to use my iPod for most of my listening on various systems, and those things are pretty limited, sonically.

Is the C5 Z06 much louder inside than a C6 Z06? I need to find a darn local C5 Z06 to look at already. The closest one I can find is 2 hours away.

I saw that on a video. The only difference are the inserts and trim are red? Or are there other difference besides the red trim?

One option of the Z06 cars not mentioned was the '04 Z06 Commemorative Edition (rpo Z16). It was the only Z06 to come with a carbon fiber hood as well as a few other unique to that car only features.

You can learn more about the 2,025 cars produced at z16.org ...

I am also pretty sure the easy entry/memory seats were an option as well

I've got that memory seat option- IMO worthless unless you have several people driving your car. Plus the system does not remember very well ( many posts about this).

The Bose stereo is a good setup. For about $100 you can get an iPod hooked up to the stock stereo. Great cheap alternative!

Post up in the regional forum for your area and find someone with a C5Z to check out!

All you need to do is add this to the back of the factory radio and you've got an Ipod hookup that charges the ipod/iphone too. http://shop.doubledmods.com/Peripher...ter-ipodc5.htm

If you want one that works w/ a generic 3.5mm headphone jack equipped MP3 player instead they have one at that site too, $10 cheaper I think. That's what I use w/ my Zune in my '02 Z. Stereo is good enough quality to me.

I've actually got an iPod adapter just like the one in your link (exactly the same badge on the connector and everything) in my SRT8. I really don't like it because it doesn't display track information. And it is just easier for me to burn an MP3 disc in about 3 minutes with 150 tracks.

That being said, this is probably exactly what I will do when I get my Vette. I assume you just pull out the stock radio and the harness wires into the can-bus? Then you wire the iPod connector to the glove box right? I assume that can be done in about 10 minutes.
