While driving around town a few days ago, all of a sudden, the whole dashboard lit up telling me to check gages, reduced engine power, service engine soon, Service, ABS, etc.
But all the gages were normal
When I got home I noticed the driver power windows wouldn't work, ditto the locks and mirrors. The AC was cycling on & off every few seconds.
The passenger side window and lock would work (from the passengers side).
Ten minutes later, I restarted the car and everything was back to normal. A half hour later, the crap started all over again. This has been going on for 2 days now.
You need to read Bill Curlee's sticky. Sounds like the classic ground issue or low battery. Pull the codes from the DIC and post them. Someone will chime in and give you some better direction. Bill is in Gales Ferry, CT so not too far away and has always been huge help on these issues. Good luck.
Door lock problems and electrical gremlins normally points to the wiring in the door hinge. Pull back the rubber gaiter and check the wiring for chafing. Pull the connectors, clean them up and check for any bent of corroded pins.
Hopefully that will fix it. Post back and let us know what you find.
Heres a picture that Bill posted a while ago which shows the wiring:
I had a similar problem with my EB 2003 convertible. The door module had gone bad. When you pull codes you will find a lot of communications faults - set because the door module is not working properly. My dash lit up with every fault imaginable and yet the car was running fine.
The tech, at the dealership I use, isolated the problem and replaced the module in a couple of hours - pretty much a non event. Another guy I know, that had the same symptoms, had his C5 at another dealership for TWO WEEKS while they "researched" the problem.
