Default Replace CD Changer with IPOD

I was wondering if any of the kits for an I-pod adapter would work for replacing a CD changer. I want to remove my in the back stock cd changer and put an Old IPOD in it's place. I don't want to open up my dash to change it out but just plug into the wiring that will be left when I remove the CD changer. Anyone had any experience doing this? Did it work, since the IP would be in the trunk will I be able to skip through songs. Don't mind just skipping through them.

Default Best of Both Worlds

Not sure why you wouldn't go for the best of both worlds: leave your CD changer in the trunk and simply splice a jack into the CD speaker wiring (found up by the pass side fuse box) so you can play CDs, an IPOD, or Sat radio, whenever you want.
I found the directions, and nice pics, in the "General, audio" section. Find the 2009 thread titled "DIY Sirius Satellite Radio install in 2003 C5 via CD Changer"----check out the 5th or 6th post from PENTAVOLVO.
The simple (speaker) approach which I used cost less than $10 in parts---BTW, the radio shack jack you need is SKU # 274-0246 and it was still available at the radio shack I checked.
There is also a DIY to hardwire speakers and power through a switched relay---but that looked to complicated for a guy like me who is still struggling with the TV remote.
I did the wiring mod 2 weeks ago and it works like a dream! If I can do this job, anyone can. And if you already have a CD changer in the trunk, why not??? I can still make use of my CD library; plug in Sirius radio when I need a CD break; and my wife even gets to listen to her IPOD if she's a very good girl!

Good luck!

2 things here.
1. Who has a cassette anymore?
2. Won't charge the ipod.

My stock head unit came with a cassette player. I imagine there are a few others still out there.
I almost went that route for my Sat radio audio--that simplicity really appealed to me-- until I stumbled across the simple hardwire jack option thread mentioned above.
Powering things is an issue! I'm powering my Garmin, Sirius and wife's IPOD with with female connectors in the console/armrest, and wired up a spare connector I stashed behind my glove box for the next mod/add that comes along!
