Broke the Vette out tonight and headed down the freeway. Have a high pitched whine cruising at 70 mph, 1800 rpm. If I back off, push in the clutch or take it out of gear, it goes away. Anybody experience this before?
P.S. Still didn't keep me from stomping all over a Roush Mustang though!!!!

Do you know if the sound is coming from the center console area or the back of the car? And does the sound fade in and out or is it nearly immediate when it starts and stops? Does the sound make the same noise in any gear at that RPM or can you be in any gear at 70MPH and hear that sound?
Diff is the only thing I can think of. You may want to get the car up on a lift and make sure there's no leaks in the diff and make sure it's still got plenty of fluid.

Didn't check the fluid personally, but got a good look underneath when I had the engine oil changed. Everything was very clean underneath. Also no spots on the garage floor. It's just strange that it just started out of nowhere. Wasn't making any noise last time I drove it. Is there anything in the diff that could slip and change the alignment of the gears?
I once had a Miata that the nut holding the yoke on the pinion started backing off. Never even thought to look at that. Ended up wiping out the whole rear end. Not sure if that is a possibility with these differentials.
