1st make sure both fans are running with the A/C on.

Then make sure your radiator is clear of debris. Lots os stuff gets trapped at the top covering and 15% of you radiator..

Then make sure your antifreeze is not too old and worn out and that the mix is the right percentage.

Someone will chime in with the excerpt from the manual, but the second fan doesn't kick on til 228* I believe, so 230* is not a high temp, but normal. And you can always check to see if the radiator is crapped up.

This being said, what are dangerous temps?

Both suggestions above are good. This may sound stupid but is there fluid in the tank. How does the cap look, is t here signs that it may be leaking when hot. I was in our vette shop last week and a C4 was towed in for overheating. Low water level and a bad cap caused the problem. My 03 runs in the 195 with the A/c on and outside temp in the 90's

Low speed fan turns on at 228, high speed at 240 or if you turn A/C on.

Check for debris like others have mentioned, but when it's over 100 outside, the blacktop temps are upwards of 140. That makes it hard to cool down.

The temps should go down once you start moving.

The low speed cooling fan is commanded on when the coolant temperature reaches 108°C (226°F). It is turned off if the coolant temperature lowers to 104°C (219°F). The high speed cooling fan is commanded on when the coolant temperature reaches 113°C (235°F). It is turned off if the coolant temperature lowers to 108°C (226°F). When the A/C is on and the coolant temperature reaches 85°C (185°F), the low speed cooling fan will be turned on at vehicle speeds less than 56 kPh (35 mph).

This is right from the tech manual.

There it is. Thanks Chicago1. I found this from Evil Twin as well...

See my post in the Z06 section:

Do this first. Will probably solve the problem. If not, you can move on to the next step.

Also make sure your fan has not physically broken away from the fan motor.

If after cleaning everything out and your temps are still high, you can always do what I did.

I installed a Cool-It from SacCityCorvette. It bypasses the relay and turns on the high speed fan. You can sit there in traffic and watch your temps start to fall. The really cool part is that it's remote controlled...no need to mount any type of switch in your car.

Here's a link.
