Default How do I light JAKE up?

I made a Jake exhaust plate. Stainless steel with red pexiglas. It's a 3-D three piece affair. Got a light attached to the rear. My problem... Where do I hook up thre light? I wanted to tie it in with either the tail light or the license plate light, but I can't find an access hole from the rear of the car to either. Anyone got a solution?

I spliced mine to the license plate light. I took out a tail light to access the wire. Hope that helps.

look at JW Motorsports :

http://www.shop.jwmotoring.com/categ...?categoryId=52

they are a forum member, he sells a led kit that is made just to lite up the exhaust plate. the link shows the led strip. i think if you dont want his strip they at least have instructions that show how to hook it up properly.

Default Light up Jake

I purchased a LED kit from Jhonathan @ JWMOTORING that really lights up the exhaust enhancer plate rather well. The kit was inexpensive and quite easy to install. You could also check with Tom (Nascar 57) on the forum and his company Custom led service for the same product

Thanks for all the help guys. I have the light I just need to know how to get to a electricle source.

JohnnyDee: The question is HOW did you get the wires to the light? I can not see an excess opening to the wires back there from under the car.

There should be a space where you can run it straight up to the reverse light area. You can probably run it from the passenger side and tape the wires to the body of the car.

There's a small space between the rear facia and the styrofoam backer. You need to run the wire through there. I used a long wire tie to snake the wire through.

Wire it to the side marker light or tag light. Both come on with the lights on

Mahalo guys! I tried the space between the rear facia and the styrofoam backer and found it too tight. I guess I need to try a little harder, this time with a small stiff wire. If that doesnt work I'll try the other suggestions.

As for "Who is Jake?" Will somebody explain (picture would help) to Guido. I still haven't mastered the ability to post pictures here.

Once I get him mounted and wired I will make another attempt at posting pictures.

i spliced mine into one of the license plate lights. i was able to "snake" the wires through the opening between the rear body plates. i removed the license plate holder assembly and used a really long zip tie as a snake from the bottom up. it was a piece of cake that took me longer to remove and reinstall the license assembly than it did to splice the wires, clean the area above the plate and mount the led assembly i used, lol.

Thanks! I'll try that. Guess I'm going to have to use thinner wires... I'm famililar with removing the license plate/reverse light assembly. I've done it twice. I had to "fix" the license plate lights as the screw mounting tabs on the lens (all four) broke off.
