Hello everyone! Just traded from a 99 coupe to an 01 vert. LOVE IT!! The prevous owner took excellent care of it and I only hope that I can continue the tradition. My question is, when I turn the ignition switch to the "start" position I have to hold it there for a second or two before the starter engages. Is this normal, did something change between 99 and 01? Thanks for any info.
Thanks guys for the info. I might go ahead and replace the switch. I never thought about the points being burnt, but that might be the broblem. It hasn't failed to start it's, just one of those things that bother you. Especially on one in the condition this one is.
I think I'll pull the switch out tonight and take a look at the points. The car only has 44K on it. Maybe it's just a little worn from being started too much??

Not that hard to do either. I "rebuilt" mine about a year ago, including "forming" the fingers for a bit more pressure on the contacts.
OP: Speaking of ignition switch related matters, here's a tip I recommend as well. Do NOT have a bunch of keys hanging off your key-ring while your ignition key is being used. All the extra weight flopping around on it WILL wear out your ignition switch lock cylinder prematurely. I use a key ring that has my ignition key on a separate ring and I can unclip it and use it by itself, while the rest of my keys and FOB stay in my pocket. Also comes in handy for when you accidentally lock your keys in the car.
