Pistons are easy to remove you need compressed air and a big towel. Stuff the towel in the caliper where the brake pads normally go, this prevents damage to the piston and prevents them from becoming missles. Then apply a small amount of air using a rubber tipped nozzle where the brake line attaches. You will then hear a pop and you can pull the piston out of the towel.
The harder part is getting them back in with the protective outer boot, but it is not too bad once you get the hang of it.
