Well I dont drive mine in the rain. Well its hard to drive it when your always offshore. I dont drive it in the rain because thats play time for my 4x4 tundra. Nothing like going through anything you want
Not only did I drive mine to work when it was supposed to rain, but I left the passenger side window open some and it rained! Oh, the huge manatee!
Brave man you are....I won't even get out of my car until it stops raining if I get caught in it for fear of door panels melting. LOL Since it's just my toy car if I know it's going to rain I will not take it out for the sake like everyone else said...the whole detailing process over again. But if I get caught in the rain while it's out...no big deal!
I don't choose to drive it in the rain, but if I do get caught in a storm, it's no big deal. My biggest concern with driving in the rain is that the metal clutch pedal becomes super slick when my shoes are the least bit wet from walking outside.
If you have a daily driver already (or two like us), why drive the Vette in the rain? I prefer a pristine Vette when I drive it and we get enough sunny days in CA, it makes no sense to drive it in the rain.
I normally do not drive mine in the rain, But when we go down to Carlisle in a couple of weeks for 4 days, not going to worry about it, if it (and probably will at least somewhere along the way ) does rain
Avoiding driving in the rain is not because I am concerned that the car will be damaged by the weather. The first reason is that the polished thinspokes are a bear to clean properly (behind the spokes on the barrels).
The second reason is that we have many more accidents including minor fender benders on local streets in rainy weather. Rainy weather is a common occurance when your average rainfall is 64 inches.
No, I don't have a coronary event if I get caught in the rain, but I do dread the extra cleanup it creates.
Now that I have ceramic brake pads the wheels, especially the fronts are easier to keep clean.
If you like driving in the rain, Mobile, AL and Seatle or Portland would be good choices.
The way I look at it is, it's your car do with it as you wish. But don't come on here bitching about the low ball offers you are getting on it when it comes time to sell. Rain, sun, wind and just plain sitting outside all have a negative effect on any car. Those of you that claim it doesn't, haven't really been paying attention. I keep my cars for a long time and taking care of them, keeps them looking good for DECADES to come.
Here's a good example. My un-restored, but well cared for 72 Lt-1.
That paint is older than most of you.
Here is a 76 with the same mileage... this is what happens when you don't take care of them.

Well yes.....and no ......
There is a difference between "daily driving even in the rain" and "ABUSED".....

That poor '76 has flat been abused!
Not really ABUSED... It was put away for the winter and never driven in the snow, BUT it sat outside, all summer long in the rain, driven in the rain and only washed once or twice a month, for 30+ years.
Like I said, it's your car do as you wish. But it might end up looking like that 76.

That car was abused, I have a 2002 that sits outside and gets rain, Snow and everything else and it is still really clean, Why? Because I take care of it.
