I don't mind driving in the rain but for safety reasons would prefer not to. I have "summer" tires, Kumho MXs, which do not have the siping typical of all season tires. Also lowered on stock bolts gives me even less clearance for puddles and although Torch Red is highly visible it may not be seen in heavy rain and spray. But I do drive in the rain since it has become my daily driver.

Mine lives outside. When it rains it gets wet. It goes when I want to go ... rain or shine. Never tried sleet or snow, but still it would have to go.

. . .everyone is hung up on the never seen rain, never driven in the rain...never washed for heaven sakes...only kissed clean by angels....

That there is funny

Before I finally got the side leaks from the targa top fixed, I never took it out if chance of rain (although I did get caught once or twice).

Now that I have the leaks solved, Im not nutz about it, but I still dont grab that car if its gonna rain, I just take the truck.

But I agree, its not gonna melt

Actually, come to think of it, now that water inside isnt a concern I'm looking forward to a little wet driving in an offroad/paved setting just to explore the drift reactions without using up too much tire.

Sure, to do a simple wash and dry would take nothing, but it's the under carriage and the engine compartment that are the most time consuming.

Yes, it's a funday, date car, garage queen. When i purchased it last year, it was 1300mi showroom clean and I prefer to keep it that way(not the miles, just the clean).

Besides, I have 2 other cars to drive if the weather is harsh. But in all honesty, I don't drive those in the rain either if I can keep from it. Fortunately for me, being self employed as a window contractor doesn't allow me to work on rainy days. So I rarely have to drive in the rain anyway.

I know, I know, I'm ****...just ask my wife.
There's absolutely no way that you can enjoy your garage queen because you don't drive it the way I think you should.

Hell....I would drive it in the rain if only it WOULD rain!! (1.15 inches this year)

But I do try to avoid it. It sprinkled here a couple of months ago and I got caught out in it driving home. Pulled up to the house and washed it immediately then put it away.

I didn't know you could get 'em wet

I don't worry about driving in the rain but don't condemn those who avoid it. It's their car so they get to decide. If I had a vintage C2 worth big bucks then you can be sure that baby would never see rain but my little old C5 doesn't mind too much.

I've only been a Vette owner for a couple of months, and I've driven it in the rain a couple of times, and actually made it home safe!! Must admit that if it's a really rainy day i won't take the car out, but otherwise, Vette's are designed to have fun in, come rain or shine!! Am wondering, however, what would happen if I tried to take the car out after it's snowed enough that the drifts are higher than the car itself...... (picturing the car sitting at the end of my driveway, supported by the snow underneath it, and all 4 tires up in the air)

NO... It's because it isn't 30 years old yet. It all adds up over time.

My car has seen all weather conditions LOL. Rain is nothing. It's water, it cleans right off. Sheesh. All though I will admit the car is my dd for now and once it is paid off and the mega mods start to happen it will be a weekend/toy car. But I am not scared if the weather becomes less than desirable unless the targa is off.

LOL as luck would have it, I happened to take the car tonite to play in a match (pool league), beautiful, sunny evening. So I play my match, come out side to smoke and wtf?....its drizzling (it was so nice out I had the targa off) lol
It developed into "biblical" rain....like you couldnt see across the street for a while.
No worries, nothing leaks now that I have that cleared up Never did get to drive it while it was still wet out though.

I fell that the dry garage queen cleaned up will not bring more money than a DD cleaned up. It is all salesmanship. If you want only a true show car, most people would buy a brand new car and never drive it.

Example, I parked next to a 87 GN at the big Buick show at Beach Bend in Bowling Green in 1993. My GN was a DD, his had 18 miles on it in 5 years.

Living in Louisville, I see truck loads of Vettes northbound on I-65 in all types of weather, so your car was in weather at one time, is what I say to them.

I keep mine really clean, but we take it on vacations, bugs, water, dirt, etc, it all cleans up when I get home. Now in town I drive my Ranger on rainy days, and in parking lots. I have put 80,000 on the truck since I owned the vette, that is 80K not on my vette.

I used to drive mine in the rain in the years past, however the part of the Texas panhandle that I live in hasnt seen any rain this year. Now it just sits outside in the heat with bird poo on it, but evertime I see it in the driveway, I think about how blessed I am to have it.....And the rain is coming so mabye the poo will be washed off!

Test drove mine in the rain. However, if I know it going to rain I'd take my Jeep. It's safer. But, if caught out in the rain... once it's over I clean her up right away.

Maybe in Texas, but here a torrential downpour will wash away hundreds of acres of topsoil, but won't slide off 1/16 inch of bird poop.

Around here if I didn't get out of the car because its raining, I'm going to have to stay there from October until July, somebody is gonna have to feed me, and I'm gonna have to pee!!
