Default Headlight problem

Hi guys, Just picked up my first corvette a month ago 1997 w/ 70 k on it. fantastic car and I cant wipe the smile off my face. However, once in a while when I turn on my headlights the lights will pop up but the lamps do not come on. If I turn them off the lights stay in the "up" position. If I turn my high beams on, they work normal. It only does this once in a while and never when the high beams are on. I checked my codes and it is not tripping any. I live out in the sticks and don't have any "good" corvette mechanics around my area to ask. Just seeing if anyone has experienced this problem. Thanks !

Ok, so you are saying the low beams are not working but the high beams are? If this is the case, access the knee bolster and remove it. Locate the large connector coming from the headlamp switch there on the steering column. Now locate a tan wire on one end of it and insert your meter lead there and the other on any ground. Turn on the headlamps and you should see power there. This is the power directly to the low beams. On mine, that pin/socket was melted due to an apparently lose connection there.
