Default Problem with parking lights.

For the past few weeks I notice that it takes a few minutes for my parking lights to cut on. Not just the exterior lighting but everything on the inside as well. What should I be checking?

Did you make any changes to your electrical's recently? Light upgrades, splicing wires, that sort of thing? Possibly loose connection somewhere? Also try PM'ing tstar, radioflyer, and JW...they may have some insight.

Nothing that I can pin point from when it first started. I do know my fog lights do not work anymore. The button inside the car doesnt even light up for them as an on and off and all the fuses look fine. I did upgrade the fogs, hi's/lo's all to HID.

Did you notice if the problems started happening after the HID install? Did you add any LED's anywhere on the car as well? Some LED's have a tendency to really make the electrical system act funky.

I have had led switchbacks up front for a while now and just last weekend put on led rear tails. But the problem was before the tails. And a while after the leds up front and hid lighting.

I'm assuming you added the either a relay for the LED's or special made harness that JW sales? Sorry for all the questions, just trying to cover all the basis.

No special harness's here sir. I did add a relay for the hi beams to run with the low beams still on from radio flyer.

Does your car suffer from "hyper flash" when the turn signal is on?

Anyone have any other ideas? I drove home the other evening with the parking lights on and it took 20 minutes for them to magically light up.

You could switch back to stock bulbs. That way you could work out if its the LED fit which is causing the problem.

In my experience, the switchbacks have been known to cause sporadic issues on certain cars that can only be described as making the car demon-possessed.

Try OEM bulbs in your turn signal to see if those are the problem. If you're still having problems, I would check your multifunction switch.

My money is on the grounds. My fog lights were acting up. Sometimes they would come on and sometimes they wouldn't. Also my dash lights were doing the same thing. I took the ground connectors apart and cleaned them up. Put them back together and now my lights work fine.

I just changed out the switch backs to the factory halogen bulbs. There is no change. They still come on when they want to. Wether it be right away, a couple minutes after I turn them on.. or 1o miles down the road they magically cut on. Its everything involved with the parking lights (interior/exterior) that do not work as a whole. But the headlights will still cut on.

So shoudl I check relays or grounds. And then replace the switch?

Yes, i would check the grounds:

See if you can clean them up with a wire brush and CRC electrical cleaner.

If it still doesn't work right, replace that multi-funcion switch

Which ground would I check? All of them? Is there any pictures of the exact locations? I would assume underneath the car on the frame.

Sorry, this is where my knowledge of the OEM setup ends.

PM DeeGee. I believe he has a greater understanding of this area.
