I've noticed a few threads regarding these coming apart and being a pain to repair. Anyone know if Chevrolet had visor option WITHOUT the mirrors or any aftermarket interior companies like Apsis or VE that can remove the cloth and delete the visor all together with a leather or something? I think the car's interior would be better without the vanity mirrors personally.
I was thinking of doing the same. I covered the visors in leather, and they are now too heavy for the clips. If the visor is up, it will come out of the clip when accelerating hard. In addition the mirrors look ugly. I might as well throw them away and sew new leather covers.

i am curious about sewing the covers. i want to do the same thing and it would be cool to see some pictures of yours. i don't suppose you took pictures of the process? my wife has a sewing machine i can use. do you recommend using lightweight leather?
I took my old floppy eared visors to my upholstry guy... he basically made me new ones without the mirrors, new covers and all for $50.. that was 3 yrs ago... they still look and operate like new..John

I don't think I took photos. But it's pretty easy, just cut the old cloth from the seam, make a pattern based on that, transfer to leather and cut and sew.
The leather has to be very thin for best results. But I would prefer premium cloth over leather now for this job.

Don't see why you couldn't take the mirrors off and then cover the sunvisor with leather. I'm sure someone like Matt at Vette Essentials can do it for you.

From the other posts using leather, I assume that your covers were made using cloth correct? BTW $50 seems very reasonable for this.
I'll be redoing mine as well, seeing as the cheap cardboard ears have broken off from the rest of the mirror and are just hanging there. However I will be covering mine in black suede
