Default General UHP or Continental DWS

I've been procrastinating all summer, but really need to bit the bullet. The DW took the car on a longer drive the other day when thunderstorms were possible. The rears are on the wear markers and they would have been useless in a heavy rain. Fortunately, it didn't rain, but it reminded me of priorities.

Discount Tire has both of these available and price is almost identical. Which will be the quietest and most comfortable? This car is not tracked, but used as our primary travel vehicle.

Or would the Continental DW be even better for a quiet ride??? I don't drive it in the snow, but it can be driven in below freezing weather.

The Generals are not made any more. If you want a great tire that's even better and less expensive, you should look into Vredestein Ultrac Sessantas. I've got them on my Z06 and I like them even better than my previous Michelin PS2's. They are quiet, smooth ride and really stick.

Discount Tire still have them available. They'll last me 3-5 years. By then any tire I might buy now won't be available anyway.

I can't reli comment on them being quiet or comfortable as my car is straight piped and for comfort hmm thats hard to comment on because I have a pfadt trans brace and C6Z suspension. So the car doesn't feel like my caddy anymore lol

Sry man. But in the rain...amazing...

I've had the General Exclaim UHP's for two years now. Fairly quiet, tread holding up very well, holds the road really well. I am very pleased, but understand they don't make them anymore. You still might be able to buy some, but in the future, trying to match may be difficult.

I've run the General UHPs for 7,000 miles. Super Tires, I like to excel on horse shoe exit/entrance ramps & these tires stick. General has always made a very good product. I'm sure if UHPs are no longer made, there is a replacement tire at a value price. I purchased the UHPs last year on TireRack.com for under $500.00 and they gave me a $50.00 rebate card also.

Had no idea that the general UHP tires were not made anymore. I hate that because I was planning on buying another set. I have 55k miles on the set I have

According to Tire Rack the Conti DW is a max performance tire and the UHP is a ultra high performance tire.....max performance is the higher of the two. The Conti DW finished second in tire racks survey out of twenty-six tires, second only to the new Michelin Pilot Super Sport higher. I had Michelin P2's on my Z06 now the DW's love the DW's especially considering the price. By the way the UHP finished sixth in its tire class.

Just another option, seen a few people here on the forums running them.

The Exclaims, I believe, have been discontinued and have been replaced with the G-Max, which I will definitely consider next time. Note than they carry a 45k warranty, which I haven't noticed other makers offer on UHP tires.

I put a set of these on my car last fall and so far very pleased with them - smooth ride, low road noise, good handling.

The DWS are totally out of stock in the Discount Tire system, but they are getting some of the DW tires in for a next week installation. I have some distance traveling to do in a week and the OEM rears are on the tread wear indicators.

I'll report back later.

Thanks for the responses, also. They did help to make up my mind.
