My vette has the regular ZO6 exhaust, i called corvettes of houston today to ask about having a Borla installed. Sales guy said not to go with Borla because the muffler has packing in it and life span only a few years?..That i should with the B&B Bullet instead. This is my first vette, would like to have a deep, loud, mean sound you know..any advise guys?
I have a 99 FRC with following mods:
Ported ls6 heads
Blackwing Cold Air intake
Whiplash cam
Ported t.b.
Ported fast intake
1-7/8 American Racing headers

This sounds to me like a Vendor that has special purchasing agreements set up with certain manufacturers and they push those products on customers.
With that logic you should just cut off your stock mufflers and weld in some flowmasters, they don't use packing...
Borla has some pretty straightforward pricing rules, maybe that has more to do with it.

The right is exhaust different for everyone. With the mods you have, our Billy Boat C5 Fusion is the best choice. It gives you the great option of two different sound levels. You keep all the performance and aggresive sound in the open mode, yet you can close the valve and have it drone free and daliy driver freindly! Now if you have no desire to tame it down and want it aggressive all the time, the Billy Boat Bullet is great, and less money than the Fusion. Please contact me for more advice or anyone of our great vendors.

B&B makes a very good product - had the Route 66s on my '00 and really liked the looks and sound (just a little more aggressive than stock). On my '03, I have the Corsa Indy pace cars - much more aggressive sound at WOT, a very nice rumble at idle and absolutely no drone or popping when driving the car.

Exhaust is very personal, and at the end of the day each person needs to buy the exhaust that is right for them.
B&B makes a great product and they would be great on your car. If you have heard different sound clips and you like the Borlas, then go with those.
I'm not too sure about that recommendation you got though.
From what i understand..most of the sound on mine right now is engine with the cam work etc.. would like to make it deeper and louder! think i might shoot for B&B...best to have it profesionally installed?

Nope, these systems are super easy to install, the manufacturers does a great job with that.
Good luck with the new pipes.
No one will care about them being perfect more than you will.
I hope he wasnt just trying to sell the line..im new to the forum and vettes. So far everyone here has been staight up. i purchased the car from a member and had it shipped, never seeing it in person. He was very helpful and honest..

I've had my stingers for three years now and bought them used from someone who'd run them several years before that... NO PROBLEMS. The sales guy is pushing a specific product for some reason.
Would be interesting to see a response from COH in this thread as the forum sends them a lot of business for CLBs...
Go with the stingers if you like the way they sound! IMO Stingers and GHL Bullets are the best sounding exhaust systems for the C5... And you can probably do the install yourself; exhaust is pretty easy. The only thing is that the stock exhaust is one piece and you have to get the rear of the car up pretty high off the ground to get the over-axle portion off... Borlas (and many other after market exhausts) are two pieces and much easier to work with...

He might have been trying to sell the line but he also probably knows a bit about the parts. Corvettes of Huston is a pretty good shop and forum approved vendor I believe. The BB exhausts are good quality. I have the Route 99 on mine and it's ok. I bought it with it on there. I think the Bullet system is a bit throatier.
Good luck and welcome to the forums. Don't be afraid to ask questions. These forums are great for the people and the knowledge. It's seriously half the reason I chose to go with a vette.

If you have a ZO6 TI exhaust on the car, DO NOT CUT IT OFF! The exhaust is not too difficult to remove and is worth more money uncut. If it is a regular C5 exhaust, have at it with the sawz-all.
I had the bullets on my C5 and switched it for a Z06 Ti. The bullets were so freakin loud that my ears would ring like I just got back from a concert every time I drove it.

I've had my Borla Stingers for several months now and love them. I had stock TI Z06 exhaust on before them and the Borlas are a great improvement. You get a good deep growl in the lower end and they quiet down at road speed with no drone. Not sure about the BS you were told by the vendor. Good luck with your search. It can be hard to make a choice.
I bought my car with B&B RT66 already install on the car. They sound great-a little louder than stock but not annoying loud. When I want it to be annoying loud, I simply open the electric cutouts I welded on a few months ago and my car sounds sick as hell. When I pull into the neighborhood late at night, I close the cutouts and I'm not waking everyone up who has their windows open. B&B does seem to make a great product. Maybe go with their PTR (i think thats the mid level one) and put some cutouts on prior to the mufflers.
