My 98 coupe has suddenly developed a problem with it's cooling system. The temp has also started running hotter than usual. The temp usually runs about 190 consistantly, but lately it starts to creep up to a little over 220 when i'm in traffic. After i get moving for a while it will only get back down to about 210, but starts to rise if i get in traffic again. Also when i get home and in the garage, the reservoir cap leaks coolant, but only if the temp is over 220 when i turn the car off. After it cools down i try adding some more coolant but it doesn't seem to take in as much as it loses. I found an old thread by PETE O that mentions replacing the reservoir cap, which i will do, but could my themostat be going bad as well.
Thanks for the help.

Thanks. After closer inspection, i did find that there is a hairline crack where the nipple meets the tank. I called vettes of houston and am going to get a new tank and cap in the morning. Also i'm assuming you are saying the temp problem is from air in the system.

There are other burping procedures but this one works for certain.
Thanks a ton. I'll use this procedure tomorrow after i install the new reservoir and cap.
