The outpouring of help on this forum is awesome. Thanks guys. I am test driving the NB one tomorrow (Wed) and the torch red on Thursday. I do agree that it is odd to me that the NB previous owner did not keep the meticulous care that most corvette owners do. And I do like the fact that the red one would not cost me any additional money to fix. The red does have the spoiler installed which I'd prefer it didn't, but it still looks pretty good. Guess the in person feeling I get from each one will help!

Also to the folks who know Crestview, both my wife and I are stationed in the area so Crestview was where to we decided to go, too.

Warning! Warning! Wagon Wheels! Wagon Wheels!

. . . and, you know, red cars are faster. Well, they feel faster.

Darn, I didn't notice in the earlier description the red one has the C5R spoiler stuck on it?
Deduct a $1000, to correct that, those things are over the top for the street. Bleeeck!
That being said, if you can't get some cash dropped off of it, I think I would pass on both and hold out for a nicer one!

Good luck!

Yes the red does have a c5R spoilers front and rear. I just noticed the chin one late last night. I don't really think the corvette needs a spoiler, but of the ones I've seen the C5R is the only spoiler I like at all. It just seems like it would get in the way trying to put stuff in the hatch. What would have to be done to correct it? I'd have to get a whole new rear end piece and have it painted wouldn't I?

Probably would have to replace the rear bumper completely, and I don't know if you would even be able to reach the three hatch compartments in the floor with that wing back there, it sure doesn't look like it would be easy!
Food for thought.

I think we're thinking of a different spoiler. It's this spoiler:

He called it a c5r style spoiler but... I looked up c5r and that thing has a huge spoiler. I widened my search by a few miles and found a yellow one in Louisiana that might just fit the bill. haha decisions decisions...

Don't be in a hurry. Neither one sounds ideal and other than the fact that they are local, both sound iffy. If neither car "moves" you during the test drive, walk away. These cars are everywhere and if you broaden your search area I'm sure you can find one that's perfect for you. Good luck

I bought my first Corvette last fall after looking for many months. I had a list of what I wanted on it and even though I almost gave in a few times I finally found exactly what I wanted and I am so glad that I waited to find exactly what I wanted.

I wanted a 2001, 6 spd, convertible, mag red, tan interior, no more that 35,000 miles and I found it and I love it!

I'd walk away from both of them if I was you because neither one is exactly what you want. Hang in there, you will find what you want.

Yeah, the giant wing was the one I was thinking of when you said C5R, but the one thats there doesn't look nearly that bad.
but I think I would agree with nearly everyone else here, and hold out for something that really hits your "Want" button!
It will happen for sure!
As a side note if your interested in going a bit newer, the later C5's have less issues to resolve at any rate.
Good luck with your search!

By the way, whatever that is under the exhaust that looks like an upside down "T" doesn't crank me up much either !

I would scratch what you have on paper and try to find a 2001 or newer

You should be able to find a dang nice one for that price, especially in Florida.

With winter coming up some more corvettes should hit the lots and if you time it right and have a little patience you can find a keeper. I got my 04 when it was 5 years old, no body damage, 51k miles for 18k.

Well that is not very nice and not even true...I never said his was a lousy deal. Not a very nice thing to say that's for sure. I guess I should apologize for offering advice that was asked for.

No its I who should apologize, I didn't mean to single anyone out, it was uncalled for, and I didn't mean to offend anyone with the way I came across !

Lets hear about this yellow one. The damage on the blue one isnt good and the spoiler and bottom piece on the red one isnt working.

Well the yellow one is actually gone already, the guy was trading it in! The picture of the red one was just a generic one the spoiler manufacturer uses to show their product. And actually I took a look at the Nassau Blue one today. What a great color! The damage was very minor. The interior was very well kept. I have to say I think that was the moving experience people were speaking of, that color is just awesome! I regard the seller as very trustworthy.
